momoyama, please come back when you talk sense as what you have posted in response is utter !!!!!!!!. you know exactly what we all mean and you hide behind the 'im trying to have a logical debate' line. no youre not, you are almost running a one person hate gauntlet towards to smoker.

we makes our own choices in this life and if smoking is one of them so be it. until i come round your gaf and light up you have no right to moan if i smoke.
There's someone in my head, but it's not me

I smoke and i try not to inflict it upon anyone else.
    1. I smoke in the garden and not in my house
    2. I never smoke in the car
    3. I always use non smoking rooms in hotels
    4. I stand away from people in the beer garden so they dont not have to breath my smoke.

    What i wont do:
    1. Keep moving if non smokers choose to stand near me
    2. Will not apologise for my habit
    3. If i get ill then i do. I pay over £1k per month in income tax. That'll cover it comfortably..
The emboldened bit is what grabbed me. I think your attitude on all of the above is brilliant, including the emboldened part. If I choose to stand near a smoker then more fool me.

Not getting at you personally, but smokers generally - but then don't come walking toward me.

I can also GUARANTEE that if i was outside the pub smoking, and a non smoker huff/puffed, complained i would, depending on the situation (or sex of the complainant:
a). Tell them in no uncertain terms to Foxtrot Oscar
    or
b). Give them a smack round the head for having nothing better to do and inform them to mind their own effing business.
Now I am one of those people who will come and politely ask you to kindly remove yourself and your cancer stick from the doorway so that I might enter and enjoy the pub'. So, you give me a smack around the head - fine, that's assault. So, you tell me to f*** off. Fine, no problem, there are plenty more pub's. I'll leave it to you to explain to the landlord why he's losing custom.

On the other hand, if i want to smoke in the street, i will, and no-one wil stop that, no matter how dizzy they get on their moral high ground.
Maybe one day someone will stop that
    - Change in the law
    - Successfully suing
    - Or one of us self-righteous people will snap and you'll find yourself incapable of smoking. People have died through being beaten over complaining about smoking. It stands to reason that the opposite could occur.

Personally I'm off down the pub' with my shotgun to fire randomly around the streets. Because I want to. F*** anyone else that happens to be around, they shouldn't be there.

  • Its all about moderation, everything in life could kill you - doesnt mean you stop living till it does !

No it's not. Many things IN MODERATION (alcohol as a prime example) is very good for you. Alcohol in excess is a killer. Cigarettes in no quantity whatsoever are good for. There is no moderation.

    Ugh.
If someone smokes but is considerate to others, no need to have a go at them and insult them for it. It just makes you look like a bit of a tit.

Smokers who dont, or say they dont, care about the people around them, you are !!!!!!. Consider others please.

Smokers who are considerate, who ask before lighting up when in company, who don't smoke at bus stops, I salute you and say you are cool in my book. Until I learn otherwise obviously. :P

There we go. Someone on my wavelength.

there are some mighty rude barstewards on this forum.
Yes. Most of them are smokers!

    Anthillmob wrote: »
it is my right to smoke, as it is my right to have children, buy alcohol, etc.... do us parents get abuse because we have children? no. do the drinkers among us get abuse from the anti brigade because we have a drinkie?
Different things entirely. You might as well be asking if those of us that breathe get abuse for doing so.

    Anthillmob wrote: »
no. so why the hell do the anti-smnoking brigade think they can preach and hunt us smokers down and call us vile names.
Because there are a proportion (in my experience, a LARGE proportion) of smokers that don't care for the health or comfort of others.

    Anthillmob wrote: »
the vilest habit here is not smoking....its narrow minded behaviour.
Fair point. And the narrow-minded behaviour is coming from... the ardent, careless abusive, thoughtless smokers.

If you honestly think that then you quite evidently arn't reading my posts. I've actually been complimented by a smoker for having the right attitude toward smokers (which was a shock to me, too)

Maybe you arn't capable of following logical because of your dogged determination to exercise your right at the expense of others?

Define "gaf" and I'll reply to that properly.
