You will continue to hear such statements UP until a law is introduced BANNING smoking completely, as is any smokers RIGHT.

Theres a stark difference between a NON smoker and an Anti smoker. problem Anti smoke brigade have, is it is now safely done outside only, not too bad when its chucking it down with rain, but now the Summer is here its all "tantrums".

Fact is as has been stated numerous times, it is done out on the street, with all the other "fumes". Non Smokers, accept that is the case, leave them in peace to smoke where it is legal to do so. Anti Smokers,..................The laws a !!!!!, but there you go :D.

Regardless of the ethics and excuses (even the odd "Smog isnt a pollutant") I don't want my cycling clothes smelling of soot as is my legal RIGHT, and justifying it with "thats acceptable because we NEED cars", is NOT my problem, just as much as it is NOT a non smokers problem that a smoker says "I NEED my cigarette".

So long as it is done out on the street, with your filthy car smoke, cheap aftershave and Body odour. Those places where its LEGAL, allowed, acceptable and "as fair as the selfish driver" Anti smokers can only "complain" and constantly will, but thats really as far as they get.

I would love to see them scramble for a new law regarding passive pollution in the street, and have it extended RIGHT across the board, to include ALL other non essential pollutants, how they would quickly scream "My car........Not fair, Not fair".

Luckily, thats not going to happen, the Law says, out on the street, I can drive and you can smoke. Freedom of choice.............................Smokers, enjoy your Cig, when and where you can, I will enjoy my car instead, when and where I can.

Heres a question for those smokers out there.... If you have been or are in any financial hardship have you given up your smokes or always found the money for them?

Personally find the money for them. if its between paying £2.50 of my credit card or buying a nice 10 pack of richmond menthols - i choose the cigs everytime.

And why shouldn't I? If I have one vice its the cigs, but i enjoy them, I work hard, Im constantly on some boring diet, I am busy paying off my debts that I don't go out, have fun :-( but I go home of an evening and light up a nice cig...I look forward to it, enjoy it and am not ashamed that i'm a smoker

Stupid comment, dont go to spain if you dont like smoking.....

How about if you go to spain remember, there are inconciderate smokers there who will light up when your having a nice meal

It was just a reminder to people the old ways and how much this new law has improved things in this country :)

not stupid at all,IF you come to Spain do not whinge about smokers

No they are not inconsiderate, they are smoking in an area that is allowed, again IF you do not want to be annoyed by smokers go to the bar/restaurants that are no smoking

 at some of the comments on this thread.
While I appreciate some people see it as their 'right' to smoke (and cannot be bothered arguing why it isn't) have never been able to see what people actually enjoy about smoking ? It really does puzzle me. I appreciate some people may be addicted, and struggle to stop even though they want to, but cannot fathom those who say they actually enjoy it ? Is it the smoking you enjoy or more the way smoking makes you feel ?:confused:

Every one is different, some people like a certain food but to others it tastes yuk, same with smokers different brands taste well different, same as the feeling smoking gives, some people get relaxation and other just feel better from having a drag of a fag for whatever reason.

More likely to be the well established sense of relief that a quick injection of nicotine brings, soothing that "tired and irritable (angry, impatient, nervous)" feeling that's associated with nicotine withdrawal:
    http://healthliteracy.worlded.org/docs/tobacco/Unit4/2cycle_of_add.html

This cycle of nicotine withdrawal>stress>nicotine intake>stress relief>nicotine withdrawal is of course a catch 22, the nicotine is needed to relieve the stress of withdrawal which is caused by not smoking which is relieved by smoking again etc etc.

If you don't smoke, you're actually far more likely to suffer less from stress:
