Actually I don't think we've quite got that far yet. Sadly.

But that is my point. I can choose to not go into a set smoking area. The problem is walking down the street and not seeing the b@st@rd smoker in front of me lighting up because they're hunched over and only knowing about it when I get a faceful. Or people standing around doorways. Or people that inhale their smoke, then turn away from their friends to exhale it... into my face. Or those that smoke around children or vulnerable adults that can't walk away.

It's not hypocrisy, it's simple thoughtlessness on the part of the b@st@rd smokers.

Last summer, I was demonstrating Kempo at Bedford River Festival. We're athletes. We were out of breath at times. But still the b@st@rd smokers stopped to watch, so we frequently took in their fumes. We weren't in a position to walk away - they came to us not the other way around. Often the case.

you were demonstrating Kempo,so !!!!!!!g what!!

I still train recruits to a VERY high standard and smoke, do not start the cobblers with me about smoking and not being fit

So, it's windy and you're smoking. What the f*** do you think is going to happen to your smoke? You think that's just going to drop harmlessly downwards? Or be transported into the strange parallel dimension that lost socks go to? That though process is completely lost on me.

But our point is that smoking is more than just a bad habit.

so what happens to your farts

Heres a question for those smokers out there.... If you have been or are in any financial hardship have you given up your smokes or always found the money for them?

What about my wifes rights to enjoy a drink without choking to death because someone has lit a cig up near her? Or do the rights of people with lung problems not count as much if they didnt fight in a war?

Your wifes rights have been dealt with, by the no smoking laws, we are now outside smoking so i see this statement as pointless

Ummm, well done on missing the point. That comment was in response to someone complaining about the rights of smokers being taken away by them not smoking indoors, hence me pointing out that by smoking indoors it took away her right to a clean (ish ;)) airspace in that room.

So YOUR statement is pointless as it managed to totally avoid the whole meaning of the post. Well done for that.

then you must have been in a 'Smoking' restaurant/bar and a sign would have stated so.So your own fault not the smokers

Spain actually went the right way about it,giving the owners the choice, smoking or not(up to 100sqm) but they must display a sign stating which( permite fumar/no fumar),over that size they have a separate smoking area wether indoors or not is up to the owners, again clearly signed,

the brits come to Spain on holiday and then try to tell US how to live,

this is by far the fairest system to ALL so if you do not like it do not come

Stupid comment, dont go to spain if you dont like smoking.....

How about if you go to spain remember, there are inconciderate smokers there who will light up when your having a nice meal

It was just a reminder to people the old ways and how much this new law has improved things in this country :)

I disagree. Abuse takes many forms. Some are more insidious or less intentional than others. No disrespect to your mother at all as I've never met her. But that's my honest perception.

Bit harsh to suggest its a form of abuse though! we could put all parents in that bracket then, feed your kids crap - your abusing them etc etc. Im simply saying just if a parent smokes around their child it doesnt mean they dont care - or give a f**k as the orginal post said.

Im also not agreeing with it and probably wouldnt do it myself, but i don't disagree with parents that do, there are many worse things that parents put their kids through.

and I am a smoker, my own choice, which is the point everything is an individuals choice. i obey the law and smoke outdoors, i dont smoke in my own home even, I consider other peoples feelings when im outdoors and do it away from people, but god forbid some of my smoke blows in someones face unintentionally - i think for people to moan about this is ridiculous, I mean what else can i possibly do to not inflict my one and only bad habit on other people. People should just lighten up and move out of the frikkin way if it bothers then so much.

I smoke and i try not to inflict it upon anyone else.
    1. I smoke in the garden and not in my house
    2. I never smoke in the car
    3. I always use non smoking rooms in hotels
    4. I stand away from people in the beer garden so they dont not have to breath my smoke.

    What i wont do:
    1. Keep moving if non smokers choose to stand near me
    2. Will not apologise for my habit
    3. If i get ill then i do. I pay over £1k per month in income tax. That'll cover it comfortably.

I can also GUARANTEE that if i was outside the pub smoking, and a non smoker huff/puffed, complained i would, depending on the situation (or sex of the complainant:
a). Tell them in no uncertain terms to Foxtrot Oscar
    or
b). Give them a smack round the head for having nothing better to do and inform them to mind their own effing business.

Smokers, especially over the last 15 years, have adapted to accomodate the self righteous non smokers.
    No smoking:
    - Buses
    - Cinemas
    - Pubs
    - Clubs
    - Restaurants
    The list is endless.
In my opinion all correct aswell. I used to hate being in a restaurant and having to eat whilst some idiot lit up and blew their smoke all over me.
I used to go outside in the street to smoke if i wanted one, (as i do know), but i wasn't forced to then.

On the other hand, if i want to smoke in the street, i will, and no-one wil stop that, no matter how dizzy they get on their moral high ground.

Ummm...no, not at all. This is kinda the point of smoking legislation: Smokers had the option of accommodating non-smokers, but chose not to. Therefore laws were brought in forcing them to do so. Don't try and make out smokers were considerate and accommodating, it took the threat of fines and imprisonment to do that.
On the other hand, if i want to smoke in the street, i will, and no-one wil stop that, no matter how dizzy they get on their moral high ground.

I remember hearing similar statements just before the recent smoking laws were brought in.
