I hate going to weddings. Ours was an exception - because I organised it I was allowed to cut out all the bits I don't like.
I do like free food though.
I don't like the idea of my own wedding but like going to others

We were living together after 5 weeks and engaged in week 6 - still together now, the rough and tumble of life has thrown its challenges, we are still together though
Been together over 4 years now, hoping we win lottery tonight for that wedding we are too tight to pay for:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

You'd have liked mine, I think - we had a half hour ceremony followed by drinks, followed by lunch, followed by a break for people to walk off lunch/take a nap, followed by dinner - and then brunch in the morning for everyone who hadn't driven back to wherever they lived the night before. I'm food oriented.
We skipped dancing (music was background only except for the drunken aunties in the corner once the swing music started), speeches and throwing the bouquet (my grandmother purloined it in any case, before even we'd had pictures taken).Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

We got engaged after 4 weeks and was married just under a year of being together and now have been married for over 3 years and together for 4. I was 19 when we got married, wouldn't reccommed it to others as were lucky it's worked for us, and looking back we was naive but as i said it's worked out good for us.
We also have our first baby on the way! due in november :T

Same here! And now he hasn't asked me I think if he does ask me now its cos me and my daughter have "hasseled" him into it, so it wouldnt feel right. Its also horrible to think Im 29 and still no one wants to marry me even though we have a child together.
From what Ive made out on this thread, seems everyone does it pretty quickly, so I've defo missed the boat!
Yep. I feel the same way. The boat has well and truly sailed. I don't think my OH will ever propose to be honest. I'm at the point now where even if he did I'd probably say no anyway. I love him but he has made it very clear he doesn't want to marry me. To be honest it's just downright embarrassing in the past when people have asked when we're getting married and he has just sat there in silence leaving it up to me to give an excuse.....2022 wins include.... £1,000 cheque £150 ASDA gift card £250 Impericon gift voucher £100 cheque £100 of plant bulbs £100 Bower Collective voucher0 -

Are you going to accept not being married then or are you saying your going to leave him?
Also why do you have to come up with an excuse and why is it embarrassing? It's your relationship, your marriage. You could simply say you don't wish to get married yet and just tell them it's really none of their business. You need to worry less about what other people think and more about what you want.0 -
Ladies - in waiting
Can I ask, why havent you just proposed?
I did:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

He moved in with me officially 8 months after we got together, then we were engaged 3 years after we met - I refused to go into labour without some kind of ring on that finger.:rotfl: We got married when DD was 2 and a half, mostly because we both wanted the same surname before DD went to school. It didn't really change our relationship at all, I'm happy to say - I still love him to bits.
For those of you who hate going to weddings you'd have liked ours - it was in Vegas, the ceremony lasted 7 minutes total, and no-one else was invited, nor did we have a reception when we got home or ask for any presents. Our marriage is between us two, not a source of big bills to feed other folk!!:D
That sia dI absolutely loved going to my s-i-l wedding, it was a great day, one of much celebration!Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
