How long were you together before getting Engaged?

Me and my ex spoke for about a year over the phone and net before we met each other but it took another year or so before we got together, then another year before getting engaged, another year before we moved in together - and we had been together 3,nearly 4, years and were planning the wedding when we split as I couldnt stand his violent temper anymore.
Me and my other ex were together 2 weeks before we got engaged - we were madly in love then, but we had been together just 8 months when we had a very messy split.
I got engaged when I was 16 as well but that was a very silly idea :rotfl:*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200 -
Same here! And now he hasn't asked me I think if he does ask me now its cos me and my daughter have "hasseled" him into it, so it wouldnt feel right. Its also horrible to think Im 29 and still no one wants to marry me even though we have a child together.
From what Ive made out on this thread, seems everyone does it pretty quickly, so I've defo missed the boat!
Oh snap!!!
It really gets me down that amongst my school friends Im the only one who is still single at nearly 30... I feel washed up!!! My 20 year old friend is getting married soon to a guy shes been with barely a year... Im going to be 30 next year and despite living with OH for nearly 3 years he still cares more about his b.loody house then making me happy in any way shape or form!!!!!!!!!!*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200 -

Is he worthy of you then?
Maybe, it's time to think about finding the right man for you, the one that will want to marry you, problem is you won't meet him when you're stuck with someone who cares more about his bl00dy house than you.
Life is short - make sure you have the one you deserve. xxx0 -

I have some friends who got engaged after 2yrs, some after a yr, some after 5 years.
Just wondered?
I've always thought after a year to be a bit quick!!
Don't think it makes a scrap of difference personally! The relationship either works or it doesn't.
My OH and I were engaged within 3 months, married 8 months later and celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary next week.0 -

Five years together and seven years as friends...and still waiting. He asked Christmas Day 2006 but then never followed it up with a ring etc, even though MIL has offered us grandma's engagement ring.
Instead he wants to save up for a "decent" ring - this is the man who didn't even have a bank acc until last year.

I think hes weakening - he saw how upset I was today and I think he may be changing his mind. Im just gonna wait and see....*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200

To those who are still waiting; I hope I can make you feel better. I am 31 this year and have been with my boyfriend for nearly 13 years...and he's still not asked me (I also went through a phase of nagging him 'asking when', 'asking why haven't you' and friends nagging us etc). But I got to a point last year where I suddenly realised that it was more important to be with the one you love and so have accepted what will be will be - so as long as you've got the right partner; then don't fret too much; it will probably happen with time.
We are both really happy and have agreed that we are going to start for a family at the end of 2010; I've told him that I am a strong believer of marriage before kids - so I'm sure things will all fall into place, as I'm sure they will for other ladies in waiting!0 -
