  • My fiance proposed when we were out for dinner for our 4th anniversary of 'coupleness' in April this year. He'd been planning it since the February. We're getting married in April next year, two days before our 5th anniversary of being together.

We're getting married in August 2010, in France where my fiance's parents have a farmhouse (small village). have got a wedding planner to organise it as it's very rural and I would have trouble sourcing everything otherwise.

Going to have a big party when we get back which will be the biggest expense really.

Oh, and the honeymoon!! Quite fancy the seychelles as we have travelled round the world so much it's one of the few places we have not been, and it's just what we'll need- gorgeous beach and stunning hotel :)

Just a general question really
I have some friends who got engaged after 2yrs, some after a yr, some after 5 years. Just wondered? I've always thought after a year to be a bit quick!!

Met my husband 21st December 1975, engaged July 1976, married 18th December 1976.
Saw him almost every weekend until the end of April (he was in the R.A.F), he was then posted to Germany, came home in the July when we got engaged, the went back to Germany and came home 3 days before we got married in the December!
Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.
  • Bumped in to my now husband in a pub with mutual friends on the Thursday

Arranged to go on a dat on the Saturday

    Never Went home:o

He asked me to marry him a week later

We got married a year later

We have just celebrated our first wedding anniversary

I would have laughed at anyone that said I would have been married a year down the line then, now I am happier than I ever thought I could be!!!:j
  • We met and went out for 5 years before we got engaged and have now been together for 17 years in total!!! Still happy...
  • 3 days. Just celebrated our 16th wedding ann.

We started talking to each other when I was 16 and him 19 on Jan 21st 06 (a mutual friend gave us each others numbers as he said we were perfect for each other. I text him first and then he rang me back after he finished work. We talked for over 5 hours and only stopped as he had a morning shift the next day that started at 10 and it was easily gone 3am :rotfl:). We met face to face on the 23rd and started going out then as we clicked so well.
We moved in together on the 14th of May 06 (although it took us 2 days before that to move in but we were in so we could live there on the 14th, lol) just 1 week before my 17th birthday after only knowing each other only 16 weeks .
We got engaged on May 2nd 08 in the very early hours - it was about 2am - after he got back from one of his late night thinking motorbike rides. After he proposed I understood why he went for the bike ride as he had had a lot to think about as he had never intended on marrying me because he didn't think he was that 'type'.
We are looking into getting married next year or the year after that on the summer solstice and we are saving for the wedding at the moment as well as a deposit for a house (it's going to be a small wedding though and relatively inexpensive, I hope, so most of the money can go on the house deposit).

Some people think we are going to fast as we are 'young' but at my age my mum had already been married for around a year so I don't see the big deal. I think the fact that we had been together for 2 years 3 months, 1 week and 2 days (I think I'm right with that :rotfl:) before getting engaged should at least make people realise that we aren't rushing into getting married but people don't see it that way . They just see us now at 20 and 23 and think we are throwing away possibilities and the fun of being young.
I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy :D
