I'm glad it worked for you!
It's horrible when you think they may disappear isn't it! Many a time I have stood in hysterics shouting at my ex to come and get it before it runs away! :rotfl:
The funny thing is though, I'm not sure I'd be as bothered about a tarantula - I think they are more like small animals to me than spiders...?
I may think again if ever confronted with one mind!
see I dont think tarantulas would bother me either, I think like you do:rotfl::heartpulsOnce a Flylady, always a Flylady:heartpuls0 -
selected comments left on my FB by so called friends when I reported the spider issue
- You need to invent some kind of spider killing device that bludgeons it to death first before sucking it up in the hoover.........otherwise you might get "revenge of the spider"!!!!!!
- Luckily for the spider a hoover bag is the ideal environment to live and breed in
- Spiders live in the warm soft dustbags and feed off the mites and insects that you suck up. Conditions are so good for them that they can eat until they get so big they burst your hoover open with their size.
- Yes, they love dysons because they can see their prey better, and when it starts whizzing round they regard it as a kind of fairground ride thet helps dissipate their eggs

I can really recommend London Zoo's Friendly Spider Course. I used to have a terrible phobia of spiders, so I can identify with a lot of the posts on here. It all came to a head a couple of years ago when I ended up spending 2 hours sat on our kitchen table watching a huge spider so that I knew where it was for when my dh got home!
The course consisted of cognitive behavoural therapy and hypnosis. Despite me being very sceptical about this, it seems to have done the trick. I don't love spiders now, but I can happily get a glass and put them outside. It's made such a difference to my life! I even held a tarantula at the zoo at the end of the day, which would have been unthinkable a few years ago!
How much did the course cost?
I’ve had hypnotherapy for smoking which worked, I always said I would go back to cure my spider phobia. I never even knew London Zoo did something like this, I will definitely look into it.0 -
WHY OH WHY - Is it that when you google spider phobia there's god damn pictures of the little ba****ds.
My phobia is getting so bad that if there's a picture of a spider{drawing} in a book or paper i can't look. i have to turn the page.
Does anyone get a itchy feeling when they see one and have to check there hair and clothes? Or is that just me.
I don't even let me husband open the windows when it's hot so we can sleep incase they get in.
When i moved in my first flat when i was 18 there was two in the bathroom which with no word of a lie was twice the size {body and legs} of a tarancula! I took of my wedge heel to kill it and it god damn jumped at me....do you know how hard it is to run away wearing only one 6 inch wedge heel!
As anyone noticed that they seem to look werider as well as bigger recently. My husband said it's proboly because of house spiders have been mating with spiders that are surviving from abroad because our weather is now warmer. eek!
As for killing or realising them - I'm defiently on the pro kill list. The thought of letting they go just to make more, honestly makes me have a panic attack.
My cat is even scared of them. He runs away from them and leaves me to suffer alone! _pale_0 -

That's the problem I have with google! I haven't been able to look up the one people are talking about on here - I know it would be bad for me!
I can't let them go as I imagine them circling the house looking for a way back in!
My cat likes them but she's getting a bit old now and can't really be bothered...
I'm thinking I may try citronella!0 -
I saw one that was a funny shape, huge and blue!!
There are a fair few freaky blue ones out the back of my mums.Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

Does nobody else have toddlers/nosy pets that lift up the glass/big pyrex mixing bowls (we get some monsters as we're in a very rural location) you've trapped the blighters under? I'm trying so hard not to pass on my fear but it's almost impossible when your 2yr old says 'look what I found mummy' and presents you with a giant creepy-crawly
And as for daddy-long-legs, urgh, they're even worse, just like flying spiders.
And don't even get me started on may-bugs (giant 2"+ beetles that get hooked in your hair/clothes when they fly into you)0
