My idea? Feed her to sleep... If she's happy with it, and you're happy with it then sod the HV!
It's one of those things that isn't a problem for me, but it will be for nursery/my Mum when I'm not there! I'm working on the principle at the mo that if she falls asleep on me and doesn't wake up when I put her down then it doesn't matter, but if she does wake up then I will try and get her back off without feeding her again (unless I know she hasn't eaten much, and is probably starving of course.)
After not having any sleep this afternoon she fell asleep really quickly when I put her to bed, but woke up again about an hour later, and I got her back to sleep without feeding her. I did pick her up, as by the time I went in she was really screaming and sitting up, so I needed to calm her down. I rocked her while standing up and holding her tight/stroking her back shhhing till she calmed down, then I counted very slowly saying "good girl" and rubbing her back a few times before I got to the next number (and shhhing again if I needed to). I think she fell asleep around 80, but i carried on until 100, then put her down. She woke up and whinged a bit when I put her down, so I held her down and rubbed her back (I've perfected this into one firm but comforting movement) and carried on counting/rubbing/good girling, and got to 13 before I came out and cooked tea.
Now seeing as she is 7.5 months she shouldn't need milk in the night, so I'm going to try the same tactics in the night and see if it works. (If I get to 300 and she's still screaming I may have to give in) That way she might eat more food at breakfast time, which would be no bad thing!
Tia/Elle your spilt milk stories all sounded like the kind of thing I would manage if I was still expressing. So easily done, especially on no sleepIsabella Molly born 14th January 2009

Buttons, I think it was your post about DD and nursery, sorry, I caught up about half an hour ago and now can't remember who said what. Anyhow, Erin who is now 9 was a nightmare for tantrums (still does I'm afraid though rare) and I had to find a way of getting her to calm whilst shopping and everything. I bought some small notepads, a little girls shoulder bag and some pencils. Everywhere we went was a game for instance shopping she had a list. She would walk around Tescos with her pad and pencil and I had little pictures of 10 items. If she managed to find one and put it in the trolley she crossed it off. If she found all 10 she would be able to chose a biscuit of her choice when we got home from a selection in a glass jar on the side. If we had to walk anywhere she had 10 things to spot, blue car, traffic lights etc. We would talk about what we were going to do before we left home and make a real song and dance about how fun it was. You can vary the treats, ideas but I always made sure there was something in each aisle of the shop so I knew her list would not be finished until I was. I know this sounds long winded but I couldn't take her anywhere. We still do things like it in the car now and Ben has changed it in several ways, spot the animal hiding in the bushes. Well my car was chased by a Rhino last week and a T-Rex!!! It apparently ripped the top of the car off at one point.
Ok, now you all probably think I'm mad!Too many children, too little time!!!0 -
Weezl, I think you should put the cubes on etsy - and then let us see. Purely to offer advice mind, not to buy anything or anything forbidden like that.
*cough*... I think someone would need to be PM'd it and then post it somewhere saying they have NO idea who it is and so on but oooo check these cool thingies out that some total random stranger has posted that she makes... :ADFW Nerd #025DFW no more! i have a friend who worked in spain last year with her OH and is therefore down for tax credit purposes as earning nothing last year, they get SOOO much! she paid for her sons christening, the whole lot, with ONE MONTHS CREDITS! and then the next month spent £200+ on shoes and a dress for her to wear for it!
Won't she have to pay back anything at the end of the year that would be over this years entitlement??They may base it on last years but surely any difference between last year and this year should be reported and credits therefor adjusted so they don't have a huge amount they then have to pay back... or have I missed a trick here?

LOL I know what you mean
In the terms you used, his brain is still wet, but I don't know how wet.. The consultant will write us a letter next week and the Comms Nurse has made a note to find out if the letter has been done before she comes out next Thursday, if it has she'll be able to tell us more then
Comms nurse weighed Rhys and he's half an ounce off 7lb  However, he did pee all over the scales so we reckon he WAS 7lb five mins earlier
LOL - it is annoying when they are just under a new lb isn't it!!! When Benjamin lost weight I was so worried about getting him weighed I force-fed him both boobies before we went and nearly cried when he did a big poo as we were leaving the house
Fingers crossed for a good result next week. Sami or AF - can you text me to let me know how it goes please? He assures me he's quite normal in that all firemen are firemen because they actually love fire..He doesn't get to put many fires out these days (which I suppose is really a good thing!) so likes to have the odd bonfire in the back garden.. Tis the little things that keep him going - clearly!
Has having Rhys made him think any differently about the job? One of my RL Mummy Friends is a Fireman and it is fascinating talking to her about going back to work...it scares the life out of me but she just says it is what she is trained to do and she loves it, couldn't imagine not going back.Is it like a nettle rash? That's what Celia gets when she has dairy, (although obviously if he's grand with milk stuff it's probably the strawberry not dairy iyswim, well I know you do, just trying to demonstrate that I do) it's worth speaking to the doctor about :-)
It is a bit like a nettle rash....just a red patch with lots and lots of tiny bumps on it. He has other flavour fromage frais with no problems so I don't think it is a dairy thing.
No big puking session today, a little bit but not the bucketfuls that we had last time.
We went to waitrose this afternoon, just for a jauntBenjamin charmed all the old ladies and I bought loads of really cheap reduced stuff...including these ice cream bowls for £4.
I also treated hubby and I to an expensive bottle of wineplease listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -

Any suggestions - either for a gift or for where from? Was thinking mugs maybe..

:eek:you sure you want to admit that on a public forum?
Yep - My job was making an inventory of equipment - a one off assignment for a different company so whilst I was on site I never worked for HLS - and it was over 10 years ago.
My favourite sport was trying to run over the pathetic protestors outside. Disgusting lowlife leaches living of benefits... I don't mind people getting benefits that need them - but claiming them so you can sit and shout abuse at people (not to mention the letter bombs, the car bombs, the harrassment of the people who worked there AND their children!) doing a job that is actually important is just disgusting and they should be made to pay back every penny of the taxpayers money that they have claimed since the day they were born - if they can't then put them in labour camps - I hate them! I honest used to aim for them when leaving the site!
ETA - until I had to go on site there for work (wasn't optional btw... ) I was passionately against animal testing. By the end of the week I had to spend there I became passionately anti-protestor. I'm not in favour of animal testing per se, but I feel that I'd rather it was done here where at least there are laws about animal welfare and not countries where frankly there is none. And only for medical testing - not things like costmetics etc etcDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

Buttonmoons wrote: »Not sure If I can go back to college in February. As apparently the whatever hours per week government funding, can't be used during term holidays, and same as college. Well where am I going to find at LEAST £120 a week for however many weeks of holidays there are per year.
At least 10 I can think of. That's over a grand!
Honest to blog, you get nothing if you are in a household where someone earns an average wage, oh wait no, you do get everything taxed, even your pension.
If I was a single or OH didn't work, I'd get everything handed to me on a plate, with a sprinkling of extra money on top. It's not faaaaaaaair
Why do you need childcare in term holidays? Does your course run through them?
:rotfl:I wish mine was a tingle, its like being electrocuted!
Kinda like being 16 again and your boyf thinks they are like radio dials :rotfl:I want a Grandma and Grandad present for my parents - a "thankyou" from Rhys for all their help with the houseAny suggestions - either for a gift or for where from? Was thinking mugs maybe..

Oooohh mugs, I like to shove socks and mini chocolates in them and wrap them in cellophane! :rotfl: I am addicted to it, everyone knows what to expect at Christmas!
For DS2's nursery leaders when he was 2, with a crispy cake.
For SIL Christmas last year.
And I now want this after I saw it in my fotofukit0
