I've just realised.. Rhys still hasn't been to a supermarket! Is that odd, or did everyone else wait ages before taking their LO shopping? Or was it just a matter of necessity?
How do those trolleys work? The ones you put your car seat in - is there a strap to hold the car seat in place?

Susan - I didn't know there was an "opt out" available for the HV. Getting 4 different midwives visiting at various times was annoying enough, without having to deal with the HV as well! LOL I haven't seen any questionaire, PND or otherwise. (famous last words - I'll probably see it tomorrow when she's here!) DH did say he was going to make sure he was home during the HV's visit. I wonder what he thinks I'm going to do? LOL He was laughing when he said it, so I'm thinking he's just waiting for me to tell her off.
Elle - it's a 3 point harness in the seat. You'll have to fiddle with the straps a bit so they fit well, but it's at least easier to see where you're going.MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0 -
Hi there all,
Quick question:
A v. dear old friend of mine is in v bad financial straits. I'm going to try to sell stuff at the car boot sale to give him the cash.
My question is: does anyone remember the activity cubes I made for fergie with the scrunchie sides? Do you guys think they are car bootable, or is it just not worth it since I'd barely make back my costs!
Please be honest, I'm not precious about the value of my needlecrafts!
Love weezl xxx
PS any other tips on what's likely to sell well would be great! xxx
I'd buy oneThey're not all for him but they are things I'm feeling bogged down by - stuff I know needs doing but I don't know how to do it.. like finding a new garden gate (what do I know about gates?! he's the one worried about security..) and burning all the confidential post (could shred it, but he's a fireman so likes to "practise"), and then household stuff that either of us could do but I never seem to find the time to do it. The list is to focus me as well as him.. again, I live in hope!
I thought firemen were supposed to put out fires not start them?

Took Amber the day we escaped because there was no food in the house. Since then it's been online shopping!
Yes there is a strap to hold the car seat in place or tesco has the ones with the green baby seat, again with straps. I'd use the one with the baby seat (with baby on a blanket) because you can't see over the car seat and are trolley driving blind, which in these days of supermarket rage is not so good. :rotfl:0 -
Its a shame that the quality of HV is not consistent across the country, ours here are fantastic especially one in particular and without them our family would have been in a very different situation now.
I feel sad that your HV hasn't provided the necessary support in as fact to become overbearing and annoying, so when and if you do have a problem you could use some help with, you'd be reluctant to contact her.
Hope that came out right.0 -
When you register with the GP, you tick a box for registering with the GP and a box for "child health surveillance" which is basically the health visitor. (Or at least you did when we did because we checked whatthe child health surveillance was.)Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

He assures me he's quite normal in that all firemen are firemen because they actually love fire..He doesn't get to put many fires out these days (which I suppose is really a good thing!) so likes to have the odd bonfire in the back garden.. Tis the little things that keep him going - clearly!

bailey - I honestly have never really meshed with any HV we've had. I think part of the problem is that many of them have talked down to me, like I am not an adult, or are very condescending. And that's something that really makes me feel less than cooperative. I had an assortment of midwives throughout this pregnancy and after - they kept changing so much I honestly couldn't keep track of who they were. I had a lovely midwife in Devon - I only wish I could have brought her here with us. I don't like the moulded seats at supermarkets - Neither does Alex!
I use the car seat ones - if I put the handle down then it's entirely do-able(the one on the carseat
). Bit cumbersome but better than the moulded seats as often she stays asleep
hehehe
Weezl - have you thought about the online craft store thingy place... dang what's the name? (Goes off to google...)
Etzy! That's the oneYou could easily charge more than a squid I'd have thought
What about 3 for £10?
Or if you think that's too much then what about 3 for £5 or £7?
I wouldn't bother selling them at a carboot... don't think they'd fetch muchOn Etzy people are happy paying more for nicely crafted items
