Ta lots :) Looks like the microwave is being confined to the loft.. I'll just have to keep remaking tea rather than nuking it once cold :p
.. Edit - you are supposed to be careful with strawberries...as I remembered as Benjamin was sucking on one the other day - oops!!!

Rhys will be 6mths in November.. and I ain't paying November prices for strawberries - he can damn well wait til.. oh.. February! ;)

Btw, this all started with a conversation about the use of the microwave, I'm not thinking about actually doing anything about weaning now! Well, except maybe making use of the veg from FIL's allotment and bargain hunting on food pots but that's just MSE surely! :D

ETA: Another question (from OH this time, who just told me to "ask the girls!").. what does everyone use to make purees? Food processor, fork, special baby food maker

I often order aimee a side salad when we're out, does my nut when childrens menus contain nothing but yellow food and beans... Up until a few months ago aimee wouldn't eat anything processed and even now prefers a good stew or roast dinner...

When I weaned her I used to go to the trouble of peeling, coring and slicing her pears... Left her in my mum's lounge for a second once and when I went back in she'd helped herself to a pear out of the fruit bowl and was halfway down it... I never peeled another piece of fruit after that!

Elle, I used to used a hand blender... The big blender never got it all, I'd still find huge lumps in it... Could of just been my shoddy technique though...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

LOL - Benjamin threw himself at my plum the other day!! Was holding him in one arm and eating with the other hand - he nearly took a tumble :o

Have decided where we want to go on holiday. Have found it within budget (or only £60 over) but can I book it? Can I b00gery!! I need to spend the next 2 days scouring the internet to see if I can get a fiver off before I go back to the first site I found it on because I won't use a site that I don't know!!!

Hubby hates it! He has agreed on the hotel and is now waiting patiently to swat me around the head in a couple of days time!!!

Edit - Elle I was using the hand blender, which was fine but a bit faffy...but I have a kenwood food processor in the cupboard which is appreciating a bit of time in the sunshine :) I am using the smoothie maker bit IYSWIM.

  • elle, we used a hand blender too, it was much easier than the large food processer and the baby specific ones are a waste of money !!

Elle - I just used my hand blender or goblet thing that came with it to puree DD's - I also bought Annabel Karmels food mill but I found it too much of a faff and made a very big mess.

Alchol lightweightedness - I have maybe one drink a YEAR, I don't like wine and never developed a taste or liking for it. Can only drink very dilute Tia Maria and Coke! Beer/lager hate the smell, wine tastes like vinegar to me. I'm a very cheap date as it's either lemonade, diet coke or water. At least it means we avoid the who's drinking and who's driving discussion whenever we go out - I drive he drinks! I also like to have at least one of us sober in case DD needs something. I'm seen as very odd in my husbands family, they all drink like fish.

Swearing - I hate it especially as DD is such a parrot at the moment, but can I get the message through to DH's family? Means all visits are off. They refuse to visit us due to distance! But that's a whole moan.

P.S. You can now grow Aloe Vera!

Thanks for all the hand blender recommendations. I do believe my dad got one for making soup (I think!) and it now lives in the back of the cupboard so I may have to offer to give it a good home ;)
