    I've called twice today and been told that they can offer no discount, the only option i get is them trying to sell me a box that I already have claiming it will save me money, but keeping in mind the £75 fee it would only save me money in 8 months time!

    Yeah about a year or so back for XL customers they dropped the monthly fee for the box, however you had to pay the £150 installation, reduced to £75 for quite a while, back up a little to £99, however you can get it for £0, £30 or £75.

    It's not buying the box - they aren't selling it as it remains their equipment.

    They should offer you discounts on the package, however to bring you in line with the current way the V+ works, they will want to charge you the 'conversion' fee - usually £150. You might be able to push them enough to get it for free or £30.

    Remember don't just speak to the usual guys, go through the options on the phone that you want to leave, when you get through tell them you aren't happy with the price you are now paying and you can get xyz from abc etc.
    It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

    or you could go for
    telephone xl
    broadband large
    tv basic
    for £35 a month

    ...Bear in mind though that on this package if you were to get a V+ box then you would need to pay an extra £5 per month and if you wanted On Demand TV service that would be and extra £7 bringing your total to £47 per month...

    You may want neither service but worth mentioning nonetheless....

    I found that quoting the fact that Tiscali currently have an offer on until the 30th for a free Tiscali+ box (there equivilant of the V+ box) for £30 installation swung the £30 V+ Box for me.

    Be careful though. The year before last, I negotiated a deal with Virgin which they confirmed on the phone was a permenant deal. However, last year after 8 months of this deal they removed it saying I wasn't eligible for the package they had already been giving me! They have refused point blank to return the package. I can't now remember what we have, have tried to call but they are currently closed!! I have broadband L (I think), XL TV with movies but no sports, talk anytime and we pay about £70 per month. Don't know if that is any good?

    I'm thinking of moving from sky, will quote this offer to virgin which I am on:

    Sky+ TV - £22 a month
    Sky BB - £5 with 40gb limit
    BT phone

    Total = £37 a month

    I would like the following which I seen on their website:

    V+ Virgin TV (medium package)
    BB
    Phone

    Total = £32 for all.

    Only issue with Virgin is the install charge for the service which is £99 install. Sky was £30 install.

    Do you think Virgin will move on this price considering I am a new customer from Sky?

    I currently get Basic TV, L broadband and anytime unlimited calls, £16 p/m.

    Just phoned them (couple of months ago) and gave them the detailsof the offer I'd just had off sky, which included free broadband for £25. They beat it by £9.

    fantastic deal!
  • ING if you ring up retentions just say you are thinking of going elsewhere and ask if they have any package deals available .The guy I spoke to said there were several ,so if you think you need talk unlimited they will do a package including that.When my next door neighbour rang retentions they offered him talk unlimited and M broadband for 20.49 but he doesnt have Virgin TV ,just have a think what you would want as a package and see what price they will do for you, give them a bell and if you get an unhelpful retentions person just say youll think about it and ring again the following day, as I say one 2 minute phone call saved me nearly a tenna a month plus my TV was upgraded to XL with setanta thrown in.

    I currently have with Virgin Media

    XL TV upto 145 channels
    L Broadband upto 10MB
    XL Phone Talk unlimited
    Line Rental

    for a total of £41.95.

    Has anyone else got the same package and do you think I could get it cheaper?

    Does everybody wait till the end of their contract to negotiate or have some of you negotiated part way through?
