Currently paying £18 per month for Broadband service only from Virgin Media. Has anyone been successful in negotiating this down? I am not interested in a bundled package.0

Could this be done before signing up? Negotiate the prices on the site?0

I am so pleased I found this particular forum yesterday. Have spent this morning going through my current package with Virgin (have always paid what I'm told to and never called to see if I can get a better deal!). It was:
Phone - old 4p Plan (no free calls, pay for what we use) - £11 line rental
Broadband - 2MB £18pm
TV - L package £11.50pm.
Current bill = £40.50 a month plus any calls we make, usually no more than £45 all in.
Called Virgin's 150 number and went through the options saying I was considering leaving and got through to a lovely lady.
I explained I thought the Broadband cost was too high for 2MB and that I thought I could do better on the phone.
She offered me:
Phone L (free evening & weekend calls)
Broadband L (10MB)
TV XL
Cost per month £37. May not be a massive saving per month and only an annual saving of under £100 but I feel I'm getting loads more for my money so I'm happy. Eldest son is going to be ecstatic coz we get Setanta now so he'll get to watch Premier League matches.
Thanks to everyone on this forum who gave me the inspiration and confidence to give it a go.CC Debt at LBM Nov 08 - £25000+ DFD Dec 2012Second DFD May 2021Starting my MFW journey: Opening Balance: £138,000; July 2019: £135107.33; July 2024 £52974.60; July 2025 £11140.232025 MFW #360 -
this must be the only company where they make you beg to get the advertised price. we`ve been with them for 18 years, but every year the price goes UP for customers yet DOWN for new customers, so every year we have to phone them tell them were leaving just so we can have the price advertised. at the moment were on 2 for £21, but a look at there web sites shows the price for NEW customers £15.50 (2mb BB & phone) so this morning we phoned them up, when is our contract over & can we have the new price, got the date, but was told that price is for new customers only and we have a reduction anyway we should be paying £30!!!!!! but no more!! when our contract ends they can shove it, were off to BT and sky BB0

I rang Virgin today and went through to the 'I am thinking of leaving Virgin Media' extension. Spoke to a chap and told him I was looking at rationalising our bills at the moment and had seen the talk talk £18 for broadband, landline & telephone including free evening and weekend calls. I currently pay £32.45 (£18.00 broadband, £11.00 line rental and £3.45 evening and weekend calls)
He offered me 2 for £21.00 which is for the broadband and telephone plus by paying the £3.45 I get free evening and weekend calls, so I know I am not paying the £18.00 as with talk talk but I have saved £8.00 a month on my telephone and broadband. Which as I am now with them for the next 18 months have saved £144.00, so am chuffed.
:rotfl: Thanks to all on the forum and the great tips on the website.0
