Does anyone have any deals I can compare with Virgin at the moment? I have XL package, M broadband, Talk unlimited and a V+ box and it's £78.95. They've offered to reduce it by £10 if I pay £30 up front.

Is sky doing any offers on installation etc?

    Thanks

Sky will bite your hand off if you're willing to pay that sort of money each month.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Even the standard triple XL package is cheaper than that - that is you can have XL broadband too and it would cost less, though you might have to pay the upfront cost (usually £100) so as to no longer need to pay the extra £10 V+ fee which new customers haven't had to pay for a year or so when on the XL TV package.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

£78.95 is with a loyalty discount we already had from last yr. I'm a bit frustrated seeing some of the discounts on here.

I think they've bumped my broadband cost up from nearly free to 18 quid & it's only 2mb. I would like to haggle a better deal but want to keep skysports and don't really want to sign up for another 12 months, just keep it rolling .... Any ideas ?

I'm a virgin mobile customer aswell so they should wanna keep me, shouldn't they ? :)

    Any advice gratefully received !

    Thanks, Tim

I phoned them up recently and they told me the best deal they had available was

    phone: standard
    TV: L
    BB: L

    for 34 quid a month

ebilling would reduce that to £33
They offered me other combinations but said that was the best available at the moment

Earlier in the year I had got talk unlimited free as well but that offer has now expired.

So question is can I get the cost down further, if so what would be reasonable to go for?

Also I wanted to confirm that I am getting through to retentions. I call 150 then chooses option 2 a couple of times then option 4
  • Hi all
Have tried to work out the best deal by reading all the latest posts, but getting very confused! Am hoping someone reading this can give me some advice (and i'm sorry if it's already written here and i've overlooked it!)

A year ago I signed up to VM for the same deal my ex had which was Talk Unlimited, BB and TV all for £30 a month for the whole time I stay with VM (theoretically forever, i double checked!)
Anyway, when I got my first bill I found they were charging me for calls I made in the daytime. I queried this and they told me I had been sold Talk eves and weekends. I said I most certainly hadn't, and they had manipulated me as they had mis-sold me a product, and threatened to report them.
The man I spoke to admitted this but said that he couldn't change the package, but they would charge for and refund me the Talk Unlimited (£7.95) in the same bill. Fair enough, I thought. He also told me that in 12 months time I would have to call back up and remind them that this needs to be reactivated.

Have just been sent a bill which reminds me that I need to reactivate this! The woman on the phone really annoyed and patronised me and said that I would have to phone back tomorrow to see if the customer relations would find this "acceptable".

Am wondering if there is a better deal I could request in place of this! ATM I have:
    BB size M - £18.00
    TV size L - £11.50
    Line Rental - £11.00
    TOTAL: £40.50
    Bundle Saving Minus £9.50
    TOTAL: £31.00

The Talk Unlimited is £7.95 which they were removing but now are not.

I was sold this package for £30 all inc. not £38.95!!!!

    any advice please???
I am no good on the phone, I get intimidated too easily if I've got nothing to threaten them with!
  • hi yeah i tried it and it worked i now have weekend and evening calls free and they have upgraded me to 10 mg from 2mg and sending me a free wireless router had a drop in price too, so instead of paying tv/line rental and broadband £39.50 now paying 36.45 but have the added calls free and also the router and the 10mg so no hassal. They agreed straight awAY maybe i should have asked for more but right now just pleased it worked. The only hitch was had to agree this for one year but still happy

Just ring them up (150 from your phone) and tell them you're not happy with the broadband cost as new customers can get the same product at just £10
    (see here; http://allyours.virginmedia.com/ )

Thats what I did and they cut £8 per month off my bb bill and gave me a new one year contract.
    :D
  • i was on broadband and phone M, no free calls - i just called saying i was at the end of my contract and thinking of changing provider and got talk unlimited, talk international and talk mobile, all free. with e-billing my bill should be just under £20/month. not bad.
