Hi can anyone help me, I have just phoned Virgin Media to try and get my MAC, and he would not give it to me saying I would receive it in an email when I have disconnected!
They didnt even try to keep me by offering a better deal, have i done something wrong? - Is there a better phone number to ring, or should I be saying something different?
Thanks!0 -

Are you actually changing suppliers ? If they they must by law give you the MAC code within 5 days I would suggest you phone back so probably got a operator with a hangover !
If your just after a better deal then I suggest going through to retentions I dont think they have a direct number any more. If you have a virgin phone then its 150 otherwise 08454541111 then just select the thinking about leaving option assumin it hasnt changed"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

Do you get deals on ASDL from Virgin?0 -
I've phoned Virgin twice to try and get my bill down a bit, or even get offered something more. They won't budge at all. I'm due to be disconnected on Friday as I was going to leave but thinking I might stay with them for ease of moving house.Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0

Just to pick people`s brains, whats the lowest "package" that virgin media do or does it vary.and if so have any newbies had any good results ? I`m currently with sky for BB,Phone,TV.To be honest i dont use my land line that much anyway.what kind of router do they suplply as i already have one which got me a reduction with sky so that should hopefully be the same.0

Virgin Media broadband using cable is different to Sky's broadband using ADSL, so your ADSL router would be no good for cable broadband.
Virgin Media supply you with an Ethernet modem, to this you can connect up a cable router, depending of the service subscribed to you may get one free, if you don't get one free then it's cheaper to buy one elsewhere and not from Virgin Media nor via their online shop.
The good thing about cable broadband as unlike ADSL where it uses the phone-line and therefore require a phone-line, cable broadband uses a co-ax cable, so you don't need a phone line, however usually you get your broadband cheaper if you do take a phone-line.
Broadband only is £9 per month for the first 12 months. With a £11 phone line it's £4.50 for the first 12 months. The advantange of a phone line is it is cheaper for people to call you and is cheaper than using a mobile - specially if you take into account the money people pay for 'free' minutes on mobiles. Though for 3 years I was VoIP only - so that was even cheaper! Less than £10 for 3 years worth of VoIP service and calls.
So the lowest you can have is broadband only or TV only or phone only.
You can have 2 services or 3 services or 4 services.

You can get basic phone line, M broadband (2mbit) and L TV for £30 or £25 without phone line.
They do a triple XL package, if you add the components online in the right order, forget which order, but you'll soon get them, you can have XL Broadband, XL TV and and XL phone for £49 for the first 12 months and then £56 per month afterwards. So that's 20Mbit broadband (free router), all TV channels (but not Sky Sports or Sky Movies) with Setanta and phone line with 24/7 calls to 01/02 and 03 numbers.
For £26 you can get 10Mbit broadband (some areas may not be upgraded from 4Mbit yet), Medium TV which is just really Freeview with a couple of other channels and VOD and basic phone line. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
We've been with Virgin Media for the last few years and paying a large amount for XL BB and a phone line.
We were looking at negoiating an new deal and were looking at getting:
XL BB
M to L TV and a phone line with free weekend and evening calls.
Could someone give me an idea of how much i would be able to negoiate this for? I notice that most haven't gone for XL BB and this is our first priority on the list.
Thanks
Wouldn't touch XL BB. Not one person i know who has it is getting anywhere near 20mg speed. This is because they have to many customers running off one hub and they aren't installing a new one until 2010.
this is a quote from another site about the 20mg bbgirlfriends dad signed up for 20mb then got the contract cancelled they had 15,000 users on a single hub and needed a second one to be able to support 20mb connections but they had no intention of installing one anytime soon (all from the engineer looking into his case) her da phoned them up saying he been sold something they knew they couldnae provide and he was going to report them
got his contract cancelled, charged next to nothing for tv and broadband for a year and various other small freebies and bonuses since to keep him quiet0 -

Mine is good, haven't seen it get any higher than 18 meg.0 -
hello all
Would greatly appreciate some assistance.
A relative currently with BT is thinking about switching to Virgin for a phone, bb and tv package.
As cheapest monthly cost is her objective, she will be looking at the smallest tv and broadband packages. She also does not use the phone a lot so free calls are not a great incentive.
I see £27 per month advertised on the Virgin website plus £40 one-off for a router.
If she negotiates, can she get it cheaper than this ? What is the lowest monthly charge she is likely to get ? Is it possible to persuade Virgin to reduce/waive the router charge ?
Any guidance or help on tactics or what to ask for from "money-saving experts" who have recently joined Virgin would be much appreciated. Many thanks in advance
Cashback would help offset the router charge:
Earn £100 for a cable sale and £37 for a non-cable sale (excluding dial-up) is available through CashBackKingsI think until the end of August.
