With VM having a minefield of deals what should I expect to get and at what price when I contact 150?

I also pay £38 a month for Sky and need to look at cutting this cost down too!

Yesterday stuck up a deal with VM to get alot more for my money AND pay alot less :T

Now have BB (M), Unlimited calls, Discounted mobile & international calls, TV (M) all for £19.49!!!

Bit of useful info I was told website www.saynoto0870.com can sometimes provide alternative 0208/07/0800 numbers to those companies that are now using 0870/0845 as call centre numbers. VM are also in the process of upgrading internet speeds from 2 / 8 / 10 to 10 / 20 / 50 in the coming months anyone on the lower 2M speed will automatically go to 10 therefore why pay the 10M at extra cost when you'll get for free.

Being a cable customer for over 15 years wished I done the bartering bit years ago........thanks all for the excellent advice / feedback. For those still unsure make that call :j

Just done my ex-hubbies to see what I could get for him.

He had the 3 for £30 bundle. Basic TV, M Broadband, and phone with free weekend calls.

I managed to get (thanks Sam):-

Talk unlimited, but you still pay 7p connection charge and have to redial after an hour.

Same basic TV.

Same M Broadband as he doesn't need a faster connection.

Talk international and talk mobile

Free wireless router

All for £20.49 a month which he was really pleased with not to mentioned gobsmacked and didn't believe it could be done.

He was paying up to £45 a month before so a fair saving over the year.

I haggled with Vigin Media last January I got TV+Broadband+Talk Anywhere 400 (400 mins to any phone number!) for £30.50 for until now. Now they do not want to give me a discount & I have been told bill will go up to £38 next month..not happy at all. Here are details:

Free Voicemail £0.00
Broadband Size: M £18.00

With this I was paying 2.63p per minute for any call (except 09 numbers). My landline is mainly used for long distance international calls making it a very good deal.

Hi everyone.

I've been with VM for 11 months and have:

Broadband: Small
Phone: Free anytime to 01 and 02 numbers
TV: Basic

It's currently costing £20 per month.

My contract isn't due to expire until 18 Sept but I decided to test the water this evening by giving them a call and stating that i'm looking at renewing my package but found that Talk Talk offer a faster connectionand also offer the same call package and that i'm happy to switch to freeview TV.

They have offered me the same deal I am currently on (actually £19.45 because i'll switch to online billing) for as long as I remain a customer.

I think this is a start but seeing that I can get calls free from 18185 I don't think it;s that amazing.

I calculated that Talk Talk would cost £17.42 each month for 18 months even after the installation so I think I can megoiate a little more

I would like to get an upgrade to my TV included in that quoted £20 but does anyone think it's possible or should I stick with what I've been offered?

Any advice will be great.

Don't forget 18185 calls are not free, they are ZERO pence per minute with a 5p connection charge.

Thanks for reminding me of that (stupid me!), I have recalculated my last few bills though and it would still work out cheaper to dump Virgin and go with Talk Talk though. That said I will still use 18185 to call mobiles.

there is no connection charge on Talk Unlimited.i've been on it for about 3 years now

hello all

Would greatly appreciate some assistance.

A relative currently with BT is thinking about switching to Virgin for a phone, bb and tv package.

As cheapest monthly cost is her objective, she will be looking at the smallest tv and broadband packages. She also does not use the phone a lot so free calls are not a great incentive.

I see £27 per month advertised on the Virgin website plus £40 one-off for a router.

If she negotiates, can she get it cheaper than this ? What is the lowest monthly charge she is likely to get ? Is it possible to persuade Virgin to reduce/waive the router charge ?

Any guidance or help on tactics or what to ask for from "money-saving experts" who have recently joined Virgin would be much appreciated. Many thanks in advance

The new customer offers are usually the best they are going to offer.

Is a router needed? Will the service be used on more than one computer? If not then the supplied modem would be fine (this connects via the Ethernet port).

You could try and see if you can get the router thrown in, though as the new customer offers are there to entice people in and the reason existing customers complain they don't get as good a deal you might not get far. Plus the router they supply you can get cheaper elsewhere and another brand / model cheaper still.
