They have just offered me:
XL TV
XL Phone
M Broadband
for £35.95 per month - seems reasonable?
if i want L Broadband it's £42.95 per month
the thing i really want to know is what the likelyness of getting a free V+ or a deal on an HD box is as we want to have it in 2 rooms (1 normal box upstairs and the V+ or HD downstairs)?0 -
All you MSE'rs have spurred me on to call Virgin media today to haggle down my costs. And it worked !!
Our basic package was £62.45, without calls. After saying I was thinking of leaving and quoting a few BT and Tiscali package offers, I've been offered the same package for £45.99. I'm saving £16.46 per month and am well pleased !!
It's been interesting reading all your posts and it gave me the courage to call them - so thanks all !0 -

You shouldn't be charged unless answered by human or voicemail - why I will always hate voicemail / 1571.
Yes, VM are the most expensive when it comes to a landline service, though you can reduce that a little by using Call 18185 etc. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
I do agree that their helplines cost far too much though, I shouldn't have to pay to report problems with *their* service (I'm speaking mainly about the cost of reporting broadband probs, but tbh I think it's out of order that reporting general faults from a non virgin phone costs too.)
You report broadband faults on 151 - free from a VM phone or on an 0845 number from non-VM lines, they dropped the 090x line a few months back.
If you have some internet access then you can always use their newsgroups to report faults as support are there from 08:00 - 22:00 each day. You can use newsgroup support for internet, TV and phone problems. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... I have phone tv n broadband with virgin media. I WAS paying £35.00 per month b4 I made a call. I rang them said BT had offered me a much cheaper deal (they hadn't). So they took off a few of my channels but I now pay only £20.00 per month. What a result!!!!0

We've been with Virgin Media for the last few years and paying a large amount for XL BB and a phone line.
We were looking at negoiating an new deal and were looking at getting:
XL BB
M to L TV and a phone line with free weekend and evening calls.
Could someone give me an idea of how much i would be able to negoiate this for? I notice that most haven't gone for XL BB and this is our first priority on the list.

Hi
Is there a way to email Virgin media about my bills?.
Mine are :
Telephone line rental = £11.00 ( i think this is classed as medium)
Broadband = £18.00
Total = £29
Calls are usually only £3
Bill is usually £33 though
I dont have the tv either. I know this is high. Any email address i can contact them at please?_Jen_0 -
Hi There,
I successfully haggled virgin media down. I was due to go from £20 broadband,Telephone (Unlimited calls) TV bundle from june 2007. To £35 prer month. FAR TOO EXPENSIVE !
I simply muttered..."competitive market out there..." and presto "...oh I can give you £20.49 and you get free international and mobile..." :T
To emphasise value the agent tried to persuade me 145 tv channels XL package? No deal me thinks
That includes line rental tv, broadband, unlimited calls. :T
Gazmaj - A happy bunny :A
Hi Gazmaj - I had the 3 for £30 deal from last july (medium BB, line rental with talk weekends and XL Tv) - i called them today to see what they can offer
i did not haggle , just asked what they could offer for a renewal - and they quote me £36 for line rental with free evening and weekends, large BB, and XL tv. - said i would call them back when i see what the other providers had on offer.
really all I am getting is the extra calls and the increae to large BB - not that great of a deal in comparison to what you managed to haggle them down too.
Can you advise me what your broadband package is i.e. M, L or XL ?
also what TV package are you on with your deal?
Your line rental - unlimited calls, plus free international and mobile calls sound fantatsic, could really do with that a I make quite a lot of call to america( at the moment I have to use an overide provider.
Thanks for any reply.

I take Virgin's tv, phone and broadband services. Today simply called Virgin (on their free 150 number!!) to say I was happy with tv but my son had recommended to switch to Tiscali phone and broadband as it was much cheaper.
Got an immediate no-hassle discount of £8.50 per month.
I know Tiscali is still £4.50 per month cheaper but so far Virgin's service has been excellent and I will stay with them to avoid inconvenience of switching.
There's always next year to negotiate for the extra £4.50 per month !!0
