    Thanks for reminding me of that (stupid me!), I have recalculated my last few bills though and it would still work out cheaper to dump Virgin and go with Talk Talk though. That said I will still use 18185 to call mobiles.

    Hello!

    Can you def use 18185 with Talk Talk? Also, any know if you can with Tiscali?

    Thanks
    Green and minimal chemicals is the new black- I know a fair old bit about sustainability, specially energy and transport stuff. If I can help- please ask!
  • Been a customer of Virgin for 15 months, and decided to look at other options. Am happy with their TV & broadband service, but think that the phone bills are very high.

    Currently on L TV package, XL phone and M broadband. Originally cost me £30 for all 3, but now that the initial 12 month contract is done, they are charging me £40.45 for this.

    Having read this thread, I phoned the cancellation line just now, and the person I spoke to said there were no other offers available - if I wanted to get faster broadband (up to 10 M) it would cost another £7. I asked if there was nothing she could do, otherwise I would leave their services completely, to which she said no, even offering to cancel there and then!

    Any advice?! I like the TV and broadband, but not the phone! I may try one more time, but if they still won't budge, any advice on provider, too?

    Thanks, chums.:mad::confused:

    No - I spoke to customer services earlier and they upgraded me to L broadband for £1 cheaper. Not a brilliant saving but better than nothing and faster broadband (whether I'll notice the difference or not is debatable as I only use the net for browsing mainly)

    Signed up to e-billing too.

    I could try saying I want to cancel I suppose but I really want to stay with Virgin Media :confused:

    Yeah, but when you call to cancel, they don't want you to, so they offer you a better package to stay.

    Hello everyone, this my first post on this part of the forum, I just wanted to let you guy's know that my Virgin media 3 for £30 package which was a 12 Month contract, ran out a few week ago and I got a bill for over £50! I nearly choked as my bill has never went over £30, so I rang them up and gave them some patter that I can't afford this hike in charges so could you please cancel my service, customer service person replies "oh no don't be too hasty sir, let me make a quick phone call" so off she goes and then she says "just going to put you through to our customer retention dept" then bla bla bla "all done sir, I have reinstated your 3 for £30 offer and have credited your latest bill for you". What a result and what a friendly, helpful crowed at Virgin, they have got my business for the foreseeable future.

    We want a V+ box to go with the new plasma tv we just bought.

    At the moment, were on the 2 for £20 deal, 2MB BB and L TV package, which is pretty poor to be honest.

    Will ring again tomorrow or monday, to try to get a better deal.

    When you haggle the price, you might as well haggle to get XL TV as that means there's no extra monthly V+ fee, plus you get all the VOD included (apart from Films and Events you have to pay extra for).

  • well thanks to this thread and some perserverence I plucked up the courage to phone cancellations and mention the dreaded word "Sky". Finally got offered a 3 for £30 :beer:
  • Can anyone give me an idea of what my parents might expect to pay from virgin.

    At the moment they have:-

    Line Rental - £11.00
    Talk Weekends
    Free voicemail
    XL TV - £22.00
    1 add set top box £15.00
    set top box discount -£5.50
    e-bill discount -£1.00

    Total £41.50 per month

    They want to add sky sports to their package. What sort of price are they likely to have to pay for this? I want to get an idea before I give virgin a call on their behalf.

    Thanks! :)

    Its £18 for skysports

    I'm trying to get the best deal I can overall.

    I have free broadband with O2 now but was with Virgin and have just cancelled my broadband based on not using it, to which Virgin have put my price up.

    Before it was

    XL TV = £22
    Skysports = £18
    Boradband = £18
    Bundle deal = -£7.50
    Total = £50.50

    They ahve now said that despite the bundle deal the price will increase by more, so its now

    XL TV = £26.50
    Skysports = £18.00
    Total = £44.50

    I'm not happy with this and am hoping someone else can help me.

    I also have a BT line (both virgin and BT are now on rolling contracts) which is £10 per month for the line rental.

    I am emigrating to Australia next year so I don't really want to sign up for another 12 months as it will cost me more but was hoping that someone can give me some hints to possibly reduce the cost.

    Any help appreciated.
  • Have just moved and were looking at paying BT about £100 and waiting weeks to get a line. Then found out that there is a 10mb Virgin Media fibre connection so have signed up for that at £16 per month and no connection fee. In 48 hours we were connected.

    In addition, have added a Vonage package at £6.00 a month which gives a local phone number and free calls to all 01 and 02 numbers. The mobile number rates aren't that bad either.

    Have to say have been very impressed with the line quality and you get 1471 and a great voicemail setup plus online call reporting and a load of other features - and all for 1/2 the price BT wanted for just the line rental.

    So £22 a month for a 10mb fibre connection, line rental and landline calls. Not the cheapest package but for anyone needing a larger broadband connection could be worth considering.
