Alias did you get anywhere? This is the package I am on, so would be interested to hear.
Yes, cancelled on tuesday, disconnection date was the 18th sept, all day today Virgin have been ringing.
At 6pm finally answered, and spoke to a guy, told him clearly what i was after, which i said that i had rang up, asked about V+, received no help with deals etc, said i had just bought new HD Plasma TV, he asked rather concerningly if i had signed up too anyone else, which i said no. Not yet.
Then i asked him what he can do for me, came back and said that i can have a free V+ box as i had been messed about, then i said im only on the L Tv package and wanted a telephone line.
he then came back with..
Phone (free weekend calls to landline - probably be unplugged)
XL Tv Package
2MB BB
Free V+ box (usually £75) & installation, inc free HDMI cable
Free Wireless Router
Free Telephone installation
12 month contract
£29 per month
Then we asked about wireless router at the end.. (worth £20-30 on eBay as already have one), and yes, will be in the post. Then we asked about a telephone, as we dont have one. Again, no luck with that, dont issue them.
Bargain i say..
Installing on Saturday:):)

Right I've finally done my own virgin media phone call and got what is known as their standard retentions package:-
Talk unlimited
Talk international and mobile
Free Netgear Wireless Router
2MB broadband (apparently it's going up to MB next year with next round of upgrades).
Standard TV package including free installation.
for £20.49 a month on a new 12 month contract which will not go up at the end of the 12 months. I've also got 7 days to cancel once I receive my new paper work (Distance Selling Regulations 2000) and if I see a better deal during my 12 months I've to give them a phone back to renegotiate.0 -
cheekyweegit - nice work. I'm an existing customer and I was offered the same cash deal, but with a few less bells and whistles. So holding out at the mo.
Hope you don't mind me asking a couple or three questions:-
-Calls: were the mobile and international calls 100% free? (I was offered 25%)
-0845: numbers - are these excluded from the free calls package?
Don't know if you are interested, but I think there maybe a £1.00 E Bill Discount knocking about too - it shows on my bills anyway.0 -

The retention deal consists of:
2mb BB
Talk Unlimited. 24/7 redial before the hour only 01,02 & 03 numbers.
Talk Mobile. 25% off the cost
Talk International. 3p per min to a number of Countries.
Basic TV Included.
As has been said £20.49 minus £1.00 if you take ebilling.0 -
Talk International. 3p per min to a number of Countries.
Though you can reduce many of these down to 1p/min by using Call 18185.It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -

Going through to cancel is where you get the best offers, just trying to get an offer from the regular customer services guys will either get you nothing or not all that great an offer as retentions have the best offers, the regular guys can't give out the better offers whereas retentions can as it is their job to keep you as a customer. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... Is it normal that my 2mb broadband connection shows up as just over 1mb?
I dont download music, films, movies or games so there is no reason they should throttle me. It seems unfair that I'm a low user anyway and they do this. I only checked it because I'm fed up of pages loading soo slowly.
Wiill they do anything if I phone up?Thanx

Is this their cable broadband service or their ADSL service?
If cable broadband are you using a cable modem or via the TV Set Top Box?
Has windows decided to download a tonne of updates and taken you over the limit?
It could be a fault, if a cable customer then best to post in the support newsgroups, where support staff will check for you, maybe ask to post some details from the modem. See: www.virginmedia.com/newsgroups - the broadband support group is: virginmedia.support.broadband.cable
Support isn't as quick as it used to be since they got rid of dedicated support staff for the newsgroups. Don't post personal details or account numbers, just you alias - the part of your email address before the @ let them know if xNTL or xBlueyonder. These are newsgroups that can only be accessed by Virgin Media customers and staff, they aren't available to non-customers, so no worries about the world seeing the posts, just other VM users. Staff are there from 08:00 until 22:00.It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... Thanx for the info Bextech
Its cable directly through the wall as far as I know, there is a virgin tv box that the wire goes into aswell but I think thats just to connect the tv to get a signal to the tv, like a splitter I suppose. Its an ordinary samsung vbox.
Its not windows updates as I only download them at a time when it suits me it just informs me when there are some to download.
I havent been able to get into my old ntl account since they changed over so I don't know if I will need that to use the newsgroup.
I am using an old modem but its not really been a problem all this time its a surfboard SB4100. I use a linksys wireless g router but this pc is directly wiredThanx
