Virgin Media: Haggle down your costs.

Have just moved and were looking at paying BT about £100 and waiting weeks to get a line. Then found out that there is a 10mb Virgin Media fibre connection so have signed up for that at £16 per month and no connection fee. In 48 hours we were connected.
In addition, have added a Vonage package at £6.00 a month which gives a local phone number and free calls to all 01 and 02 numbers. The mobile number rates aren't that bad either.
Have to say have been very impressed with the line quality and you get 1471 and a great voicemail setup plus online call reporting and a load of other features - and all for 1/2 the price BT wanted for just the line rental.
So £22 a month for a 10mb fibre connection, line rental and landline calls. Not the cheapest package but for anyone needing a larger broadband connection could be worth considering.
Up to 10mb.
£24 a month after 12 months.
Quickstart Self Install free connection is not available in all areas.0 -

Previous offer has expired so just phoned them again and got large broadband (10mb), talk unlimited 24, line rental, 25% off calls to mobiles and discount on international calls. All in this is £26.49 per month (with £1 e-billing discount).
The number to phone for retentions has changed and is now 0800 052 0870. When I called it was answered by a real person immediately, no options, menus or key presses. He simply checked what deals were available then offered me this which is the same as I have had for the past 12 months, no quibbling.
I did just that this morning and it was great! Lovely lady, very sorry to hear I was disappointed that my free talk unlimited had come to an end, she could understand my shock at seeing the charge on my bill. I mentioned that my 2 for £20 (BB, phone) no longer seemed like a good deal and I was looking at Sky or TalkTalk, but if she could offer me a better deal, I'd be happy to stay.
I now have:
Line rental, talk unlimited, talk international, talk mobile and 2mb bb for £19.49/month. Bargain! I'd've been happy with just the talk unlimited back, to be honest :j0 -
I phoned up today and had already
phone rental £11
BB £18
total £29
I told a very nice man I was thinking of changing providers as others were cheaper and he offered me a deal with phone rental and BB at £21 if I signed up for another 12 months. Well I aint moving so I said ok. Also if I sign up for e-billing I lose another £1 a month making £20 instead of £29. He was also very helpful in spotting when and why our calls were expensive so we had added the 'free talk after 6pm mid week thingy' for about £3.48 ish which will definitely help. He also said phone from a mobile to another mobile to save money.0 -

I just phoned them yesterday, Im on 4mb BB & I had it for 12.50 for the last 12 months (or suposed to have been, im not sure) I think it said 6 months on their system when I phoned them. I said that I wanted to keep with them but on the same deal, basically the guy said that they couldnt do anything for the BB only and that I could take a phone line & get their new customer offers that you have pay them for phone line rental. I told them that I dont need a phone or TV pacakge.
After a while the guy said I can downgrade & get just the 2mb package for £10 pm (dont know for how long, as I dont want that as I swear I get lag with 4mb when gaming).
The guy said No deals on the 4mb bb, only if I do their 'new customer deals' and get a couple of services, e.g phone & BB for £27 or his only alternative was 'just' 4mb BB = £25 pm
Ive got full package sky TV already for £10pm through sky multi room because my mums got sky already. I dont need a phone line as my mum has a bt one already. The guy was telling me to change over my mums bt line to virgin and I'll be getting a deal because Ill only be paying £27pm & only £2 extra on what Im paying for my current package.
Has anyone got any deals on just the 4mb bb lately ??? (Im thinking due to the 10mb upgrade they are unwilling)
maybe I might have to go with someone else or should I phone back ?
I feel hard done by seeing some of the great deals you guys have been offered I feel quite offended. He asked if I wanted to cancel etc, I said I'll work out my options and call back
Okay I posted the above in Feb and have since forgotten about trying to get a better deal. Im still paying £25 pm for 4mb BB (not 10 yet) and I also pay £10 pm for 300mins-300txt Sim only deal.
I get 2 seperate bills, phone online statement, statement through post for BB both payed by seperate direct debits.
Can anybody recommend a deal that I could get where I have the same BB size & mobile sim and pay less than £35 pm. be it including other services or not (I dont really need there other services though, especially not there tv package as have sky, lineline I would probably never really use but if its practally free than why not)
Question: Can I get put through to VM CS retensions etc through my virgin mobile? no landline working in my house at the moment. or is it only for virgin mobile related stuff? The mind is just wondering now.....Has anybody got any retension deals while requesting the pac code for there £10 virgin sim?0 -

Look at post #625 above. I called Virgin yesterday and am getting:
*2mb broadband
* XL phone package
* Talk Mobile (discounts on calls to mobiles)
* Talk International (discounts on international calls)
for £19.49/month. If they want £7 extra for the faster bb, you should be able to get all that for £26.49.0 -
Hi,
Hoping someone here could give me some advice. I currently have Sky tv and am considering upgrading to sky+. I have the full sports package which costs me about £38pm. However i do not have Setanta sports. I see that Virgin Media offer a similar package to sky but this includes Setanta sports all for £38.50 the catch is you have to have line rental from them or else the same package will cost £45.50.
My question is does anyone know of a way i can haggle this down? I've called them twice already but they aren't having any of it!
Thanks,
fred_flint_stone0
