Dad upset at topless neighbour

Well OP I hope your Dad comes up with something. I do think the suggestion of a removable 'screen' that he can put up on the few meagre days of sunshine we get in this country would be the easiest idea. She isn't doing anything wrong and until he has a solution I wouldn't think it's too difficult for him to avert his eyes if he knows she is in her garden.
I personally wouldn't confront her. If she is doing it on purpose, then it will make her day. If she isn't, then how embarrassing would that conversation be!!
I'm glad none of my neighbours go about topless....they're all at least 50 :rotfl:Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. The point is that she is in her garden, but it is not private.
I say have a party.
Start a regular whist drive in the garden.
Maybe set up some cameras (with no real film!).
Perhaps put a sign out at the front of the house offering free viewings.
The woman is being inconsiderate and even intimidating.0 -
I feel sorry for your dad, but I don't think she's doing anything wrong. I personally wouldn't ask her to cover up as she's in her own garden so it's up to her how she dresses. She may be unreasonable in her response, which isn't worth the hassle in my opinion. Telling her he'd rather not pass the time of day with her while she's in a state of undress wouldn't be unreasonable though next time she approaches him with everything swinging/bouncing!
But I can understand why it's upsetting him and I do think he needs to resolve it somehow. I do think that if a fence or trellis or a tall hedge is too expensive, an irritating but practical solution would be to move the veg garden, though I appreciate that might be a huge job. But if he's upset, it may not be a bad idea.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -

On the clothes optional days I mentioned at Abbey House Gardens, I've seen all these combinations and more! What's more, there are people of all ages still in their clothes, and they don't seem to have any trouble knowing where to look! :rotfl:
I still say that if it mattered that much to her to have the garden fully secluded, she'd find a way herself.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
i cant belive hes complaing i certainly wouldnt and i doubt me dad would either tell him to get some popcorn some beer and enjoy the show:rotfl:Replies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you0

I think this is the most British thread I've read in a long time, LOL!An uneffected guitar sounds like a little girl crying. An uneffected bass sounds like an angry Rhino!0

I used to live in a housing association house with a 100ft garden only the first 50ft or so had 6ft fencing the rest was low fencing (my 2 year old could see over it).
Next door lived an elderly man who like the OP's dad would be out in his garden from the moment it was light until it got dark doing his veg or just sitting outside his shed. However due to the shape of the garden despite the 6ft fencing that was there from where he sat he could see right down to my house.
He used to sit there just staring at me watching whatever i was doing, there was one particular day that it had started raining and i had washing on my washing line, it was only very light rain and i hadnt noticed it had started next thing i knew he was stood at my back door with all my washing in his hands telling me he had got it down for me he had climbed over the fence that was there to do so
What with that and waking up several times to find things moved in my garden, flower beds had been dug over and even having washing going missing from my washing line, despite having this 100ft garden i felt so alienated by what was happening i was too scared to go out there!!!
Please whatever you do tread carefully by the way you treat the situation, my neighbour im sure was only trying to be friendly but it scared the hell out of me!!! :eek:0 -
Maybe she wants to go naked in her garden and already feels that she is compromising and respecting your father's privacy by wearing her bikini bottoms?52% tight0

If I could afford a place with a 200ft garden, I'd imagine I'd be able to afford to put up some temporary fencing / plastic sheeting etc etc for the remaining area.
Or as its your dad, you could do it for him?
Thats what I would do if I was bothered by it.
We were bothered by the student residents opposite us - we just put up some waterproof sheeting across the back of the garden.
Its no major deal really.
I dont see the point of antagonising neighbours unless they are really creating a nuisance - plenty of 'real' threads exist on this site that we all have sympathy with.
This doesnt really rate that highly for me.0 -
Would it be different if she sat in her front garden with no top on?
I feel sorry for the Dad, but the woman obviously hasn't got a problem with getting them out, so I think he needs to either pluck up the guts to mention it to her, or get over it. They're only breasts !!!!!!. And unless they're horrendously long and dangly, he shouldn't really find them offensive.0
