I sent my second cashback again special delivery (and the nice postie lady put a value of £500 on it if I needed to make a claim) and I get a text the very next day saying my cashback is on the way.

RESULT!

It costs about £4.20 for special delivery but I'd rather pay that than lose out on around £60 worth of quarterly cashback!
Ive been on the phone to e2save and got the runaround about my non delivery of recorded delivery cashback claim. I told him i had sent 5 claims in the last 3 weeks (3 for e2save and 2 carphonewarehouse) and none of them were showing as delivered on Roayl Mail website. He checked and they hadnt had them. He said i would have to phone Royal Mail and get them to do a letter to say they had lost the mail and send that letter in with my then late claim for cashback and they would then pay it. When i asked how i was supposed to send it due to the non delivery of all the others he went off, then cam back and said the manager said phone 0871 2225522 and explain whats happened and they will let me fax them in. When i phoned it was the same options as before when i rang the other number so whats the point.
I can see what people are going on about now, how bad things are. This is my first cashback claim and im wishing i hadnt taken the contracts now.

Anyway,REGARDING SPECIAL DELIVERY, i rang Royal Mail and was told due to the time passed it would be considered lost and i would have to claim (i only sent recorded so would just get back £1). I told her what it was for as in cheque back on a phone and she asked if it was e2save or carphonewarehouse so must be aware of problems. I asked if i would be able to get a letter from Royal Mail to say they had lost the letter as that is what e2save want for them to pay my cash and she said i would get one when i filled in a lost mail form. I went on to ask her if i sent it Special Delivery and it went missing what would i get (instead of just £1 as with recorded delivery) and she said nothing. I was quite shocked and asked why, if i paid £4.10 to send a letter due to it being worth around £80cashback to me, why i would get nothing. She explained that it doesnt cover for 'consequential loss' which is what it would be classed as due to it being a letter to claim cashback. If you wanted it to cover that you should pay an extra £1.25 on top for 'consequential loss' which covers for up to £1000. I then asked her if there were any other terms and conditions that they would be able to state that would get them out of paying up. She said you would need proof from the company that the letter you sent was worth that amount to you etc.

Anyway, sorry to ramble on but i think the whole system stinks. Ive been on the phone to so many people today to try and sort things out ,e2save for cashback, Royal Mail for lost mail, Royal Mail for tampered with mail, Banks for fraudulent use of cards, card company for fraudulent use and i have yet to phone o2 about not having downgraded my tariff.

With regard to Special Delivery, if the letter didn't arrive on time then (before 1pm next working day) it would be possible to claim your postage cost back, so the £4.10 you paid. I assume this would also apply if the letter never arrived.

Sending Special Delivery is definitely the best method. I was thinking of getting a phone from e2save but after reading this thread...it doesn't seem like such a good operation!

whitey1987, no it doesnt seem a good idea and i wish i hadnt got any now. I only got them for the kids as they wanted the nice phones although they do use the minutes and texts. Still not worth all this hassle though.
Yes i would assume you could get your £4.10 back. I think its wrong though how these things are not explained to you, but then again the post office people dont know what youre sending and you only get to find out about it when you ask.
I think im going to send a second claim off for one of those im waiting for and send it Special Delivery with consequential loss just to see out of interest what happens and if it gets there.
Will let you know what happens.

Sorry to hear about your problems regarding special delivery--wow, not quite the fairytale the woman behind the desk in the post office made it out to be!

I haven't had that much of a hard time with E2Save.com, the last company, Just 3G Communications, needed me to take out a CCJ against them before they would pay up!

I think the best type of deal would be an unfront one. As in this is what you're paying for the next 12 months. I wonder if any places do them (I have seen them before but usually for old phones)

• I hope they are not as bad as they sound as I have to post a claim this month!
