  • Might be worth phoning EDF and telling them you will be away for a week as the letter says they need your meter reading within 5 days.

Very kind of you to tell me that I will do that straight away.
Just called nice younge lady from EDF who has confirmed my Gas switch will take place on the 23rd Sept and as i am back on the 26th I will be able to give them my reading within the 5 day period. I would like to thank "charlies_mum" for that very valuable information.

    Bad news:

"The big six energy suppliers tell the regulator Ofgem there is little chance of further cuts in their prices this coming year."

Also mentioned in The Guardian Business section a statement from Consumer Focus that Scottish Power have increased dual fuel by the most since 2003 up 148% while decreasing prices by 0.6% so far this year.
"When the Government borrows, the citizen has to save".

    Machiavellii
  • When going to comparison sites I can't find the evil Capped Price Energy September 2010 product listed

Any idea what it might be called?

They've replaced it with Capped Price Energy September 2011 but the tariff is identical.

Oh righty-ho...Same as Standard but capped for 2 years.

Ignoring FirstUtility, comparison sites rate EON FixOnline V3 Monthly Direct Debit as best for me until Dec 2010. £270 saving. Does that sound like a reasonable idea?

    Ta

Yes that looks reasonable to me.
I've just switched from SP to EDF online tariff v5 saving £278 when compared to SP's Capped Price Energy September 2011.
I could have saved a few pounds more by switching to EON but I liked EDF's 5 star Customer Service rating better.

I've now given my final meter readings to EON, but no changeover dates yet - but I can still log on to the SP site ?? Its now nearly 5 weeks since I started the switching process.
  • Hi All,

Has anybody noticed how desparate Scottish Power have got for new customers. On the Topcashback site they are offerring £90 for switching dual fuel to them.

(New user so can't attach the link)

Wow!! They really dropped the ball with their fixed price september2009 deal!!

Although, after all the disgruntled customers (me included) who must have switched, I don't think many will go back any time soon, seeing that their best tariffs usually come with a hefty exit penalty!!!

But, of course you do have the option to swtch away if you are on EDF's Online Saver 5, as there are no exit penalties .....So if you want to get on the Scottish Power 'merry go round'...you are free to do so....But just remember that you are not free to get off !!!!
