  • I'm already with Scottish Power and switched to the standard tariff recently after they were going to put me on the year contract. I've used some comparison websites and they say Npower is the cheapest (+£30 cashback) for me. "Online Energy Saver 7 Dual Fuel" with Scottish Power is only about £30 more expensive and saves me the hassle of switching (plus npower seems to get terrible reviews).

If I phone Scottish Power and say I'm going to switch, do you think I can get them to offer me some money in my account? Seeing as they're giving £110 for switchers, I don't see why they wouldn't be tempted to do this for loyal customers. Has anyone done something similar?

Before I switched away from SP they offered me a free case of wine if I stayed with them.
A friend was offered £40 to stay with them.
    We both switched to EDF.

Thanks. What did you do to get this offer? Did you phone them first to say you were switching?

The thing is, I might save about £70, but then I might get worse service after the switch. SP customer service have been OK with me, they give accurate bills and I like their web interface. Switching for less than about £70 just seems a lot of hassle for not enough gain. Seeing as they're offering £110 cashback to new customers, I may as well chance it and ask them for that amount to stay...

I'd already decided to switch to EDF, so when EDF contacted SP about the switch I then got an email from SP with their offer of wine asking if I would change my mind and stay with them.
I would call them as you suggest.

I have received my £60 cashback from EDF, in fact it came available for me to claim from Top Cashback about week or so ago but i've just got around to sorting it out, so that's that done and dusted now and safely in the bank sort of speak. I'm looking forward to my first gas and Leccy bill in january from EDF to see how my monthly payments is stacking up against my usage, see you all anon.
