I honestly dont get what people are complaining about.

I've done cashbacks and chequebacks with CPW and mobiles.co.uk and while you may have to chase a chequeback claim... I have always got the money.... sometimes within 2 weeks sometimes after 1.5 months.

I think its very a nal complaining it arrives 1-2 weeks late... who cares if you get the money right?

Afterall... the model they work on is a weird one.... like some people get 100% redemption.. meaning they get free calls for a year!... you know?

Get of your high horses..... if mobiles/CPW is so horrible... mobilejunkie... why the hell do you use them?

OH YEA>.... because they are the cheapest supplier anywhere... and while it may be a hassle getting cashback/chequeabcks... its the best way to save money.

Am peed off with people complaining and whinging for nothing.

I just read most of those reviews and its filled with hate against mobiles.co.uk obvious money spinner.... get you to sign up to the insurance and gadget support..... if you dumb enough not to cancel dd or (with gadget support at least use website to cancel)... then tough luck for you ... their money helps keep my phone cost down to me. For me to get a cheap phone by cancelling dd and using quidco... someone has to get stung with the gadget/insurance things :P.

I will be using mobiles.co.uk next time as getting a free PS3, 25 quid a month tariff unlimited texts, 40 quid quidco is pretty good if you ask me :P.

    - Mobile insurance and gadget support... just cancel them after 3 days..

You have been lucky when dealing with cpw companies. You will have a different view if you ever join the many who have had to battle with them to get them to honour the contract!

And part of the model you don't mention is them relying on not having to pay out 100% of customers due to the customers breaching the ts + cs

You make 2 distinct points here.
The first is about late payment and what's the problem. This may be the lesser problem, but what if your employer decided to pay you 2 weeks late? OK by you?
The other point you make is about people whinging for nothing. I am afraid that the evidence of all of the ccj's against CPW or whichever of their subsidiaries it may be clearly indicates that it is not "nothing" as you write.

Ok, Mobilejunkie and quentin may have a regular beef about the CPWinternet resalers, but you need to acknowledge that a large number of MSE members do have problems with them and that the evidence of the ccj's (that is cases they have lost) - not to mention the vast number of out of court settlements or settlements after a lba indicates that this group of companies are not altogether 100% straight.

I would add, however, that I have no experience of mobiles.co.uk and take on face value Ben's comment that they have no payment claims resulting in a court settlement and I bet that, secretly, he wishes mobiles.co.uk were not part of the CPW group!

My point is, if you look at teh review points alot complain about

    1. Poor Service and long wait times - Yep surely you must realise that with very cheap deals that overheads will be minimised and calls charged at stupid rates... like a tech support line
    2. Chequeback problems - Some of these will be down to person forgetting about sending it or down to person not chasing it enough. I personally had a 'problem with CPW regarding my last chequeback of 80 quid'. I sent the bill on time as soon as i got the bill... 2 weeks later no response so i phoned them and sent another bill recorded 1st class delivery... then it was accepted.. Then 30 days later I had no cheque even tho got the cheque confirmation message.... I rung them again and week later had the cheque. Sure i had to chase it but i was on the ball with it, on their back after the dates and used outlook to remind myself when to claim etc. The other 8 times i used CPW with chequebacks never had a problem (use CPW chequeback for wife and myself).

    3. Mobile Insurance and Gadget Support. Its quite clear this is a gimmick and with anyone with a couple of brain cells to rub together will immediately try to find out how to cancel it... hell it even tells you on the website or opening documents to just cancel DD before 1st month... so 1 week later just cancel DD. You dont even need to ring gadget support you can do it via their website.

I just think the neg reviews are there obviously... because people don't---- think. They see the 25 quid a month the free ps3 and the free phone nice messages and contacts... they sign up and forget.... a crucial mistake. Then they go whinging alot.

Then theres people like me who play by book, do everything fine..... and here is the big rub... people like me normally dont whinge, moan or even put a review up... so it looks worse than it is :P

I for one think mobiles is great for me as im technically and financially savvy enough to play by the rules and push for it. I mean i aint even got a chequeback this time.. just 18 month contracts and free gifts which is great :). I used to be on 35 quid a month tariffs for both wife and me with chequebacks making the equivalent monthly line rental like 25 quid. Now I got 25 quid monthly tariffs and free gifts :O.

If for me to get my great deal some mug cant be bothered to read or chase things then fine by me... thats their priorities.

If you were right - and some of your points are very fair - then there wouldn't be any ccj's for non-payment of cashback or out of court settlements either, would there? That is just dishonest business, whereas late payment and stalling could be called tactics to ease cash flow.

You would, hopefully, agree with deliberately avoiding legitimate repayment as being dishonest, surely?

Interesting that you mention this - let me give you an example which I think demonstrates the wider approach here at Mobiles.

Nearly 3 years ago I changed our site to use our 01923 prefix instead of 08700 wherever possible, so customers could call using their inclusive minutes from a mobile or landline. We gave up some modest income from the NGN so customers would have a better experience.

    Thanks for your posts,

Actually the percentage of claims denied due to being outside T&Cs is miniscule, the vast majority of unclaimed rebate is down to a claim never being submitted.

Obviously it also hasn't occurred to you that the only reason people who do claim the full amount get as many months free/half price as they do is because of the fact that a certain percentage goes unclaimed?

    Hope this helps,

As for the CCJ comment. How many CCJs have been raised total against mobiles or CPW? its ok listing 20 of them on a forum... the inidivual ones are not releveant.

How many per year are the CCJs raised?

Then take that number and divide it by total number of customers a year..... multiply it by 100 and you get an idea of what percentage CCJs to mobiles.co.uk customers that is.

Im pretty sure its pathetically small and not even statistically worth an argument over.

Alls fair in love and war..... this is business. There a profit organisation... and while how you paint them is negative i think they may have internal procedures where they delay the chequaback or make you send two etc.. but its not as bad as you make them sound... otherwise they'dve been out of business a long time ago.

In all honesty as a customer on the right side of this, i don't care. Sure they might delay things, sure they might make you jump through hoops to get what you want.... but if you do this your laughing.. or at least I am lol. And i've proved another point I aint on CiAO i cant be bothered writing a review there (unfortunately) but I... and my wife are both happy customers of both mobiles.co.uk and CPW.

    Mobiles.co.uk rep :-

Slightly confused by replies in this thread and I wonder if you could help me - and others - with a simple answer to the cashback question.

If I send a "correct in very way" claim in by your preferred means, just how long should it be normally until I receive the cheque back in my hands? Let's say that we allow 2 days at either end for the postal system.

And how long do your current (6th August 2009 11.15 or later in the day if you are updating them as i write) t&c give you before you are in default of them?

    Many thanks.

We will acknowledge receipt of your claim the day we get it, validate it and confirm payment within 28 days of receipt and instantly request a cheque goes out - at this point we rely on a 3rd party to send the cheque, and currently (again, I'm working on this) this part can take a couple of weeks or more. To be honest I'm not sure exactly how long it takes on average, but the maximum is 28 days.

The only update to our site/T&Cs we've made in the last 2 years is to add a sentence saying that the cheque may arrive up to 28 days after we request it, as a result of feedback here on MSE.

For clarity, because I know people are going to argue with this post, we say it takes up to 30 days to validate and send the cheque and then up to 28 days for it to be delivered by the company that handles that side of it.

If your claim is incorrect in some way we (currently) are running at maximum 4 days after receipt to confirm this to the customer.
