o2 retentions - We want your support
Right here it goes, my girlfriend is one of many loyal customer with o2 and has been for years, what do you get from them when you want a deal for the next 18 months.... you might think ok same deal....no...ok more minutes/text for more money.....no...just a crap deal, no phone.
They dont want you, so im going to make them know who we are!
I would like to see how many people have cancelled/got there pac codes. Once a few months has gone, I shall email this to their CEO, maybe we might be able to change their minds.
Please add your story/comment and vote. (add how much you was paying and then I might add up how much they have lost)
Ive done same thing over at o2 forum, but they deleted it after 30 mins.
Only last few months this applies to, before April 2009, they where fine.

Unfortunately I wanted an iPhone so I stayed with them but I expected nothing from them as I know about their 'retentions', I knew there was nothing for me!!Kavanne

They offered me nothing, so I cancelled and went to a different network.I was told that they no longer did 12 month contracts, so that was a major blow for me. I like to change my phone and contract every 12 month.
I was offered the Nokia 5800 with no free internet, 600 mins and 100 texts on a 18 month contract for £35 PCM IIRC - really crap.
Dialaphone could have knocked spots off them - with redemptions etc £270 for the year for 12 month contract, that's £22.50 per month for a Vodafone 600 mins unlimited texts and unlimited internet - same phone.
Even Vodafone stepped up to the plate 1/2 price line rental for 9 months with that phone. £20 per month for 9 months then £40 for the last 3. That's £300, no redemption claims to worry about. Not a bad package for a phone that sells for About £215 on PAYG!
Oh, and we like it so much, we got another!
Just one thing, if you want to port your number over - you need to do it at the time of purchase. Ask the sales rep if he doesn't mention it. Loads of problems if this little detail gets forgotten.Behind every great man is a good womanBeside this ordinary man is a great woman£2 savings jar - now at £3.42:rotfl:0 -
I went for a o2 sim only deal.I got a great deal from o2 last time:
unlimited landline calls
600 mins
1000 texts
sony ericsson (can't remember model, but had good reviews at the time - sold it for £150)
when I called to renew they told me they couldn't do that deal anymore. They told me they were charing more money for less texts and minutes and no new phone!!
Got my PAC code but changed my mind and switched to simplicity to see if any good deals come up with the other networks, don't want to rush in.
I don't really want to leave o2 as they have great customer service and excellent reception. However, from the sounds of things they're not interested so will just wait to see what comes up elsewhere.0 -
They offered me more than I wanted and im pleased. My contract with O2 was up for renewel in April, I actually called them to cancel as I wanted to get the new Blackberry which is only on Vodafone but the bloke in the retentions department offered me an older Blackberry (the Curve) on a £35 a month contract knocked down to £20 a month as I was a loyal customer. As we've just bought a house and were trying to cut costs I couldn't really refuse and upgraded.
As it happened I didn't like the phone so sent it back for the Samsung Pixon instead. Couldn't fault them really but have seen stories on here saying that they're barely offering existing customers anything.0 -

By the looks of it, you got the end of the good deals before they went out to offer jack s.Kind Regards

They offered me nothing, so I cancelled and went to a different network.24 hours old this thread and o2 have now lost at least £5000 over 18 months just on this forum. Thats based on 14 customers spending £20 per month over 18 months.Kind Regards

They offered me nothing, so I cancelled and went to a different network.I have been a loyal 02 customer for 16 years or so. My contract was up yesterday. I rang retentions for an upgrade. I only wanted a Samsug Tocco Ultra which is available with Vodafone for £25 a month on an 18 month contract for free. 02 wanted £45 a month for it! I requested my PAC code and they did not even argue. It was texted to me within 2 hours!!! I asked why they were not willing to haggle, they said they are only interested in high-end customers!!!!!0
