I dont think he was trying to advertise. I have looked on the referral board and cant see anything about Primus with £10.

So to join Primus i just ring the 0800 number and there is no special offers then, cahback etc??

Yes, give them a call and they will go through the deal, then get them to confirm on e-mail, plus any points you are not sure of.

  • Never changed broadband before, so unsure of how all this Mac code stuff works.

Phoned Primus with my Mac code (from BT) on Monday, how long should it be before i get a letter confirming the activation date of Primus Broadband?

I was told the migration can be "up to 10 days", should i have received a letter confirming dates etc from Primus by now?

Primus usually do everything by email, unless for broadband they do by the post, I'm not sure.

Migrations from one ISP to another are usually done within 10 days, what will happen on day of migration, usually somewhere around 0:00 - 01:00 your connection will drop, you just then need to change your username and password on your connection details and should be back on within the time it takes you to do that.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

Phone them up and ask them when you will get confirmation in writing. It doesn't cost anything.

Starting to worry about how good Primus are going to be.

Just phoned them up, and got told "there was a problem with BT accepting Mac Code, is it correct?", so gave Primus the Mac code again, told to phone back tomorrow.

Phoned BT, asked for a check on the Mac Code, and it is the same as i have written down!

If i am to phone Primus back tomorrow, it makes me start to worry, why it is now 4 days after "signing up" that i'm phoning them, and they are telling me there's a Mac code problem, if today they are telling me to phone back 24 hours later to see if it has gone thru' ok this time, why have i had no notification from them before now, to say that there has been a problem?

My BT bill is due on the 23rd August, and with it 3 months advanced broadband rental, the whole idea was to catch the migration before the bill was due, now that looks like it won't happen, i'm not a happy bunny, as the customer, who has done his bit, i don't expect to have to chase Primus, and if there is a problem i expect at the very least to have been informed ASAP, rather than wait on myself phoning up, to enquire if there is an activation date set yet.
  • Seems when Primus put the Mac to BT, they put in small letters, where in fact it is supposed to be in capitals, Primus has put it back to BT in capitals, but i have to wait till tomorrow to find out if they have accepted it.

BT have told me, that if they have already tried to use it, i amy now have to wait till the 10th September to get a new Mac code, if that is the case, then i might try elsewhere, if i can't trust something as simple as a Mac being transfered being done correctly.

Fingers crossed that it will go thru' tomorrow!

STEVEN CARDWELL - Don't necessarily blame Primus if the MAC does not go through straight away, as these threads are full of people complaining about the same thing. BT don't always get their act together and are often at fault. If you are on a 3-months advance payment for BB, no wonder you want to change! Cancel it anyway, you could always use a dial-up for a few days until you get fixed up.

Phoned Primus today, and onscreen now has an activation date showing, so fingers crossed, the problem seems to be that someone at Primus entered the Mac in small letters, where it needs to be in Capitals, the lad i spoke to at Primus today, said he would let me know if any problems arise.

The broadband line rental goes onto the BT phone bill, which because my CPS is Primus, is mainly line rental and broadband charges, both of which are adavance charges.

I also pay the BT bill by monthly payment plan, hence a 3 month bill of £75 on it(£26.99 a month), can make all the difference on what i pay monthly to BT, knowing my luck they won't credit this until the next quarterly bill, which means i'll be ineffect paying for a broadband service i don't have!
