Or has she practically tied her goods and chattels up in a spotted hankie on a stick and shuffled off down the garden path, sniffing all the way?
It'll feel less painful after the initial guilt wears off and the pure joy (of not having to put up with it any further) sinks in.
Is there a book available 'Instilling Guilt to Get What You Want' that some parents get - as these tactics sounds so familiar!!! I would be wasting my time as DD would call ambulance and I'd be 'outed' within 5mins!!!
It is hard to stick to your guns as OP's mother knows exactly what buttons to press and is a total abuse of your trust and love. I just can't understand even thinking of doing some of these things to the people I love. Your family, health and happiness must come first.:rotfl:0 -
I too hope that all has gone well and that the OP is getting her life back, breathing a big sigh of relief.
It was amazing, and instructive, to see how this woman could change from the way she was described in post #1, staying in bed till lunchtime, completely dependent and helpless and then in #86, up and about, doing washing, out of the house by 10 am.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

Yet another one checking in everydau to see how it went.
I'm being optimistic and hoping that the OP is too busy catching up on all her lost sleep now her mother has gone.
Fingers crossed for you!:rolleyes:;):cool::o:rolleyes:;):o:o:cool:

Hi everyone,
I am sorry not to have checked in for a few days. She went as planned. It has been a lovely few days to be honest. Thanks for all your help and kind thoughts, I have genuinely been surprised and touched by your advice and help.
I have said to her that with a few BIG differences things could have worked out better, and I did take some responsibility by not establishing ground rules at the very beginning.
