Hi
We've had exactly the same problem - "Hello George this is energysavers and we want to know where you get your gas from"....
Many times I tried explaining to them that George is the son of the previous owner from whom we purchased the house a year ago, that because we live in a very rural setting there is no gasline to the village, and that Ive asked 50+ previous callers to remove us from their database... a complete waste of time so I am going to show interest as one of the previous respondees suggested and then start pest phonecalls to whoever owns/runs the UK company that has employed these people. I also suggest buying a very piercing whistle and blowing it loudly down the line each time they call...this is a real pain in the backside.0 -
We have had the same problem for the last few days. Today they have called 3 times.
We are registered with TPS and have told them this and also asked them to remove us from their database. I have logged a complaint with TPS. Maybe if enough people do that they will investigate.
We don't have an answer machine - we use 1571- so unfortunately we can't use that really helpful tip!0 -
Tell them you will go and fetch the head of the household, put the receiver next to the phone....and leave it there for, ooohh, an hour or 2.Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
tell them you have prepay meters because you have over £1000 in debt & if they will give you a £1000 to pay off the debt you are happy to switch over to them.
then give them a fictitious name and your DOB as 1992, they cant sell to an under 18, ask to pay by DD
the address & postcode of a power station will confuse them even further.0 -
After the last time they called and the woman was very rude I now just hang up on them0

You could try the Telecrapper-2000 response,or the ECBGS counter script.

You need to be careful if you don't know which company is calling you; if calls are from abroad.
If you use the amusing responses in the posts above and really upset someone from, say, India, you can find yourself getting called in the middle of the night.
Someone on the radio was saying this is exactly what happened to them. BT couldn't trace calls or block them.
Find out who they are working for first and then you have some leverage.0 -
You're trying to PPR'd, aren't you Hellys Bells? Every post you have made is identical, and will no doubt see you promptly removed from these boards."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0
