We too have received calls from 'Energy Savers'. First time my husband answered and they asked if we got our power from British Gas or Southern Electric, he replied "My wife deals with that" and they hung up.
Second time I answered and they asked if we got our power from British Gas or Scottish Power, I replied with the answer and he said someone from NPower (I think? Could have been EDF?) would be calling me as they could save me up to £400 a year on my energy bills. He then asked if our landline was with Virgin Media or BT, I replied and he then said that someone from Talk Talk would be calling me. He said "you have now completed our questionnaire, Ok?" I said OK and he hung up.
Weird phone call.
I'm also registered with the TPS although it doesn't seem to make a huge amount of difference. My husband usually asks where they got our number from and they hang up.
I'm rather concerned now that because I said "OK" even though I wasn't absolutely sure what he was saying, that's been taken as permission for them to call me again (or for these other companies to call).
But from my phone call it would appear they are commissioned by NPower (I think - can't recall exactly as he spoke very very fast and with a strong non-British accent - however given what Mothershipton said it seems likely to be NPower so I await their call) and Talk Talk.

Thank you for sharing your experiences of them. I have called the customer service dept of NPower to register my concern and they have taken my call seriously - they were not able to confirm or deny if this group had any connection with them. I honestly don't know whether these rude people have any commercial connection with any UK energy company or whether they make money by managing to get new customers for them - I just don't know how this world works. To some people they are exceptionally rude and call them names. I wouldnt think that any UK company would want to be connected with them if they knew what they were like with their customers or potential customers.
If they call again - or if you get as call from Talktalk or from NPower this will presumably be pretty good confirmation of some connection - however weak.
Did you by chance get a call number from them on 1471? When I do - the number is not one that can be traced unfortunately. We too have received calls from 'Energy Savers'. Did you manage to trace the phone number at all? On my caller display it came up with 0123456789
I am intrigued by what 'mothershipton' said - which seems a highly suspicious coincidence - dont you think? If they ring again I might say I use n power
Is there anything else I should do0 -
I want to know who they are!!!
( Getting impatient here!)
Maybe I should invite them over for tea.....dawnydee73 wrote: »When they first rang I wouldn't answer their questions because I wasn't clear who they were, they threaten to send someone round :rotfl:I said I wouldn't be speaking to them either0 -
Hi, I'm only replying due to googling 0234569879 and finding this thread.
Energy Savers rang me just after 3pm today.
An operative simply asked me, by my name, who was my gas supplier?
I told him that I don't reveal personal information.
The blighter hung up on me.
Well, 20 minutes later a female operative asked me the same question.
After the previous call, I thought, let's have a game.
I simply said, "that's for me to know and you to find out".
She mentioned about a survey.
I replied, "I don't do survey's, we have enough CCTV's in this country to survey us, bye, bye.
You guessed, she hung up on me.
God bless my cotton socks, another caller from the same company rang 30 minutes ago.
I was asked who supplies my gas.
I said Tesco's.
He replied, "Tesco's don't supply gas".
I said, "you've just asked me a question, I gave you an honest answer and you're calling me a liar".
He again asked, "who is your gas supplier?" I said, "Tesco's, sometimes Sainsbury's", depends where I'm shopping and need some.
He then asked, "How do you get gas from those stores.
I told him, "quite easily.
Have you never driven into a gas station and filled your car up". The ignoranous slammed the phone down. Bless him.
I am, and always have been, a salesperson worst nightmare. If someone phones you at home or calls at your door, ask him why he's trying to sell something that's not up to scratch.
If an item is worth buying, it sells itself. I don't watch any TV these days but, when did you last see an advert for a "Mars bar"?
You won't, because they sell theirselves, which is a waste of advertising.
I can only advise those that receive perceived annoying calls to chill out. Just unwind some of the unnecessary stress that we're burdened with today.
Kind regards, littlewillie. (that's my name and not a description of me)0 -
Hi, I just don't believe the persistence of some people?
These call centre staff need to find a life. They've called me twice more this evening.
All I heard was "Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello", so I finally said, "Her Majesty's Coastguard, what is your location?" He hung up.
The last caller said, "hello, hello, hello". I said, "two sugars please". He said, "sorry". I said, "there's no need to apologise, it's your mother and father that should have been sorry?"
Just for those that are really concerned and can't handle the unfortunates that dwell in a call centre, I did some more googling.
I love a google????
Companies House brought up and revealed 2 Energy Savers;
All details are there, addresses etc.
On a serious note, if you feel the need, write to them;
Dear Sirs
Harassment by telephone
I am writing in relation to the quantity and frequency of telephone calls that I have received from your company, which I deem to be personally harassing.
I have verbally requested that these stop, but I am still receiving calls. (Delete if necessary)
I now require all further correspondence from your company to be made in writing only.
I am of the view that your continued harassment of me by telephone puts you in breach of Section 40 of the Administration of Justice Act 1970, and the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.
If you continue to harass me by telephone, you will also be in breach of the Communications Act (2003) s.127 and I will report you to OFCOM, Trading Standards and The Office of Fair Trading, meaning that you will be liable to a substantial fine.
Be advised that any further telephone calls from your company will be recorded. (**Even if you don‘t yet have recording equipment!!**)
Yours faithfully,

I like your thinking littlewillie I wish I had done that when I was getting sales calls.
DCFC79 unfortunatley it is not as easy as just hanging up, I got calls from a different company, calling asking if I wanted a loan. All the calls were offshore calls. They called at least 5 times a day from 9am until 10pm at night sometimes within 30 mins of each other. This continued for 10 months. In the end I had to call BT in tears, (having a 6 week old baby and alot of hormones were probably to blame) as the caller had called me a F***ing stupid b***h, I hung up went to phone BT but he had stayed on the line and continued hurling abuse at me. It was only when O/H took the phone off me did he hang up.
BT advised there is nothing they can do about off shore call cantres and I had to change my phone number. At the time I was mortified- what if one of my children had answered? would they have got that abuse? More needs to be done to stop these companies harrassing people.0 -
JUST HANG UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. or play games with them (if you've got the time of course) at times it provides me with endless amusement. Sad I suppose, but hey it amuses me"Imagination is more Important than knowledge"0
