Help us please to stop harrassing calls from energy savers [Merged]

Options
For the past month we have been called moer and more frequently by a company that calls itself 'energy savers'. The call appears to come from an indian call centre and immediately enquires who we get our power from - they then aggressivelyt keep asking questions even though we have politely asked them NOT to call us again.
Initially the calls were once a week - then every few days - and now ever day. Today alone they have called us three times. They are rude and each time say that they have never previouslycalled.
has anyone else suggered from calls from 'Energy Savers?'
Today we called 1471 to get the number -= and it is given as 001234569879 but nowhere on line can I find out who these people are.
we would appreciate help from anyone who knows who this company is and how we can stop them from calling us - they even argue with our young children when they answer the call.
THANK YOU !

Answer phone, find out who it is, hang up.
    Why even talk to them?

Couple of bible bashers came to my door this morning and rang the bell I answered saw two people and one had a bible in his hand, before he even said a word I said no thanks and shut the door. Took all of 2 seconds.

Answer phone, find out who it is, if you don't want to talk to them, hang up.

    How difficult is that?

    OR,

If you are with BT you can request their "Choose to refuse" service which is free for one month by which time hopefully the nuisance caller would have got the message. Charges will apply after 1 month but you are free to cancel whenever you like, even within the initial free month.

Sign up with TPS it's free and efficient, and if you continue to get calls they will investigate.

I'd also inform BT, sounds like a genuine nuisance call and they can get the police involved.

    ....

Unfortunately not much help if the company is based in India ;)
(similarly I can't see interpol getting too excited over a few unsolicited marketing calls)

... but will help to stop calls from companies based in the UK (even if they use overseas call centres) :)

"001234569879"? I doubt that's their real number. I know telephone companies can impose blocking restrictions etc, but I've never used these and don't have any knowledge of them. Whenever I get an unsolicited call, the second I hear the person speaking I hang up, and if the number appears as an "0845" number etc on the screen I answer it then hang it straight back up without even listening. :D

As said above, you won't easily stop calls from abroad.

However why not try a different tack and pretend you are interested and ask for further details to be sent or emailed to you.

That way you will find out who they represent in UK and you can take it up with the that firm.

Some councils now use 0845 numbers for some departments, so not all incoming calls beginning 0845 are guaranteed to be time wasting cold callers.
