    I reckon a
    tracert www.moneysavingexpert.com
would be a better idea as we could see where it's breaking down

hi tried ping https://www.money..... and it came up with "Ping request could not find host https://www.moneysav..... .....Please check the name and try again"

As for tracert, don't know what that is or what you do with it, guidance needed for this if we should try it please.

tracert traces the route of a ping. It will give a reply from each IP address it hits so we can see if it's hitting the router and attempting to go out.

See the Automated troubleshooting section in How to troubleshoot TCP/IP connectivity with Windows XP. If that doesn't reveal the problem, go on to the Manual troubleshooting steps.

Yes. Open a command prompt window and type:

    tracert https://www.moneysavingexpert.com

tracert and ping are in the manual troubleshooting section of the MS page I linked to above.

Hi, Ive been watching this thread with interest, I`m pretty sure that the answer is too either enable 64 bit of 128 bit encryption on the router because for some reason a lot of wireless cards dont like connecting to an open network! Ive had your problem myself.remember to make a note of the key number and enter it when your laptop aks for it

    Does this work wirelessly?

    http://69.10.152.196

    does this work?

    ping -t 69.10.152.196

could you check that you don't have a proxy server set in IE, see one of my earlier posts for instructions..
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?

tried tracert https://www.moneysa..... but that brought up Unable to resolve target sytem name https://www.moneysav....

Messed around with the 64 and 128 bit but got a bit lost so put that all back as it was.

    Also tried

    "Does this work wirelessly?

    http://69.10.152.196

    does this work?

    ping -t 69.10.152.196"

It didn't do anything with IE but in the cmd it brought up "Reply from 10.0.0.138: Destination host unreachable." and this just keeps repeating.

    With

"could you check that you don't have a proxy server set in IE, see one of my earlier posts for instructions.."

Dont know where you mean sorry not trying to be dumb but how do I do this or where are the instructions you are refering to, can you tell me more?

Proxy server = IE > tools > options > conections > LAN and see if there's anything in there.

Do a tracert on the 10.0.0.138 as it's picking this address up from somewhere
