Not sure if their stance is changing but i've just phoned them twice - they said they'd just come out of a briefing on this issue.
Did they happen to mention what their official policy on deciding who's eligible is, by any chance?

Regards,
Nope, they checked and confirmed that I had received the text, confirmed my eligibility but then said they would not let me cancel my contract and that I should seek legal advice.0 -
Cool, thanks, just curious.

Regards,
Orange can not say who can and who can't. If they are going to increase their charges then under the t&c you have a right to cancel. Plain and simple and if they tell you other wise they are breaking the law. Phone consumer direct.end the tv tax0 -
Hi,
I wonder if anyone could give me some advice on this situation. Basically my missus has been with Orange for 36 months or so and is due for an upgrade in her last 3 months on the 11th August. Now she was originally under the impression that she was due a upgrade in november as shed had her phone for 12months but when she phoned up she was told the new contract shed signed was a 18month contract (of course shes got no paperwork to prove otherwise and never signed anything to say it was changing from a 12mnth to 18mnth)and she had to wait till the final 3 months which started on the 11th of this month.
Shes recieved the text today and goes over her bill every month but normally in texts!
Now shes never had a reduction in line rental and pays £35 a month and gets a crappy phone so in your opinion is she better taking a retention deal ( does this start a new contract from this date or does it add on the 3 months) or is she better cancelling and taking a deal or is there another optition all together.
By the way she hates orange customer care cos they wont send her a copy of her contract to prove she signed for 18months!
Thanks for any help.0 -

I can only sing their praises from my last couple of weeks experience with Orange.
All I can suggest is that you hear what retentions have to offer (by requesting a PAC code from the 150 service). They've given me a cracking deal compared to my previous 18 month £35 contract.
Initially they offered 800 minutes, 300 texts and unlimited landline calls with a free pay monthly mobile broadband dongle (500mb/m) and samsung tocco for £19.46/m, but this has dropped down to £14.46/m now over 18 months!
On my 2nd line, I've been offered a free HTC Hero with 1200 mins, unlimited texts and internet and orange numbers on an 18 month contract for £24.46/mTry to imagine nothing ever existed...0 -
does your new contract start imediatly or is your time from this contract added on?0
-
disconnection dept said that they sent me the text regarding price changes within 10 days of me upgrading - so as i have now passed the 14 day money back guarantee, my line cannot be cancelled without a fee and that i have "agreed to the new t&c".. so they wont cancel!!
any help?0 -

My current contracts are expiring on the 9th, and therefore the new ones will start on the 10th.
I did enquire about upgrades over a month ago, where I was told if I had upgraded then, that my 18 month contract would be added on to the time left of the existing contract.
It's worth phoning up retentions now and seeing what they can do for you though, although any deal you are likely to be offered now should be beaten when your contract is nearer to expiring.Try to imagine nothing ever existed...0
