its very hard now. They wont budge. My husband has been told by orange to contact OFCOM!
  • Just got the text before I managed to call an 0870 number. Have called a few 0845/0855 numbers in the past month but don't know if that helps. On the phone to Orange as I type
  • Just moved into new business premises and have almost no signal with my orange phone. Been self employed this is a right pain having to go outside to answer any calls.

Called orange to cancel my contract and switch to 0
o2, they said i signed up last May to an 18 month contract and was out of contract in February ???? I said that makes it november by my calender and she said "well when you signed up you were not out of your last contract so we added those three months onto this one" How cheeky is that.

Anyway just got wind of all this, called after only reading a few facts and got my contract cancelled with 7 months to go. They are sending me my PAK number this week and i'm free to move on as soon as it arrives.

P.s i told them i had received the text (when i hadn't) and they didn't check anything.

I think you need a quick lesson in RPI figures ;) They are an average not a sum !

I'm useless with maths I'm afraid. I was hoping I was totally wrong!

Anyway, I finally got through to them. Told the lady that answered that I'd had this text and as per their T&Cs I wished to cancel. She said Orange are only allowing people to cancel if they've made calls in the last 3 months that would be under the new prices and put me on hold while she checked.

All those 08xx numbers I've called clearly must help because she eventually came back and said there was no problem and I'd receive a PAC code in the post in the next couple of days and I should use it immediately or risk missing out on it and having to pay for another (I'm aware you get 30 days to use it but I'm not going to risk it).

That was it, I'm free from Orange. I've already found a replacement O2 tariff that gives me 600 minutes and unlimited texts (instead of 200 minutes and unlimited texts) for £30 per month (instead of £25). However, it also comes with a new handset and a PS3 - by the time I've sold those, I'm hoping to more-or-less cover the cost of a year with O2.

I'm really happy, today's been a good day! My wife found one of the undated 20p coins in her purse earlier, so that's another £50 with any luck :D

Also what number did people call them on? Any better than others?

Just got through and managed to cancel no problem. I have never gone over my minutes although came close in May. Never phoned an 0870 number either although have called 0844/0845 numbers a few times over the past month. Was prepared to fight my corner but cancelled without a murmur :j

    Hi guys,

A bit of advice! Ive just rung for my partner and spoke to them. Theyve given me the 30 day cancellation but because my missus can upgrade on the 26th August they want her to upgrade then but wont offer her anything now. Ive got a feeling its because they can add the 3months on to it rather than scrap them off and do her a new deal now. She said it was because of the loyalty.

Basically what should i do? Phone back and see if i can them to offer her summat now, wait till the 26th of august or find another deal and just cancel?

    Whatd you reckon?

I contacted the Orange call centre at 13:30 on 7th August and spoke to a member of staff. I was put on hold for 20 minutes and told that my account was to be cancelled with immediate effect by the staff member. This didnt happen so i rang back at 6pm and was told that they had forgotten to cancel my account. The member of staff had put on the system that my contract had been cancelled and the ending date of the contract had been changed. The new member of staff refused to disclose the changed dates of the contract and changed my contract to active without my request and changed the dates of the contract back to the original. I spoke to a supervisor and was also refused my contract to be deactivated despite ringing earlier on. The cut off point for contracts to be deactivated was 3pm where Orange obtained legal advice. I rang before Orange had legal advice so i was elgiible for my contract to be deactivated. Despite an error by a member of staff at Orange i am being harshly treated. I now have to wait for the original member of staff to contact me but i am not hopeful of achieving anything.

Call their bluff and ring ofcom, someone on another thread said they complained to ofcom and were given a number to call orange complaints dept and got cancelled this way, may be worth a try, what have you got to loose..

I got my pac this morning, so huge thanks to the OP, I was soooo tired of their "customer service" three wrong bills in a row plus numerous other problems I'm glad to be free!

my OH called about 15.00 and cancelled both our contracts and have been told our pac codes are in the post - i hope with the change of stance by orange later in the afternoon that they will honour this and post the pac codes out. I am really relieved, i moved since taking out my contract and have no network coverage in work ( in an area of apparently good network) and orange basically said tough luck about that, so its nice to get out of it almost 8 months early and actually be able to have a conversation on a mobile without being cut off several times!
