Fortunately thats not true of Orange, I was on Orange PAYG before taking out a contract with them and it was very simple to do.
My PAYG number was transfered to my new contract within a couple of hours, and the remaining credit was credited to my pay monthly account.
    Couldnt have been simpler.

Migrating within Orange is possible from PAYG to Contract and Contract to PAYG (when ending a contract) only. Contract to Contract (PAYG to PAYG) porting is only possible from other networks
  • I just phoned up orange and they said I couldnt cancel contract until I had the text as only about 5% of their customers will be affected so I had to have the text. loada rubbish

So may I use this post, to ask anotehr question?

I can call them up and say "Hey you changed your T&C, I want to cancel.... but if you want to keep me, I am open to offers..."?

What do people ask for? Early upgrade? Money off? Whats the best mobile to ask for? Currently happy with my Nokia 5800 though....

They offered me to double up the minutes and some texts. But not new phone:mad: customer for 17 yrs and only this year my bill went twice to £100 due to holiday... So I would count myself as good customer. Also not all that far from renewal - 4 months (7mths from the end of 18mths contract).

I think you have to port to PAYG SIM (that is what I did) and then once you are on PAYG they will take you back to contract...

I'm waiting for the right moment to cancel because of the £150 cashback when I took out my Contract in June.

I received the text message yesterday, so can I wait till the 2 months of my contract are up (Quidco validation period) and then cancel (probably around the 22nd August).

Would I still be eligible to cancel then?
  • you have to cancel within 30 days of being notified by text
  • I just phoned and they have canceled my contract :T
I'm 10 months into an 18 month contract.
But what phone can i get now :D

They're correct that 5% will be affected by the change (ie. go over their minutes and have to pay the out-of-bundle charges). What they failed to mention is that everyone's contract will change and therefore everyone has the right to cancel!

I don't even remember getting a text

That's because "contract to contract porting" is generally known as "an upgrade" :)

  • Just called orange to cancel and was told that it doesn't affect me because I took my contract out in July. I did mention that I have a copy of the terms and conditions and price plan from when I took my contract out.
He wasn't interested and basically said because they had already started sending text's out to people about the new costs before I got my contract that I wasn't affected.

I have logged a complaint with Ofcom and am waiting on a call back from the Orange team that deals with Ofcom complaints
