Well we have both received the text now, and I have had a look at the prices etc, and to be honest, I am going to buck the trend here. We are both on Raccoon 24 (or 20, can't remember which) are nearly 12 months into a 24 month contract (we managed to wangle a small discount if we signed up for 24 months), we get 300 cross network minutes and 100 texts a month, and never have either one of us gone over that. He has unlimted Orange Internet on his phone for about £8 a month, and I have Blackberry internet for £5 a month, the only other things we seem to pay for are photo messages.

If I need to call an 08 number then i do it from the home phone, all other landline and mobile calls are done through the mobiles, plus each mobile is a magic number on the other one.

no problem at all as soon as the operator heard the word text he gave in. He did say my contract would end on September 30th (rather than August 30th) because the date in august falls on a bank holiday? ... this is probably a load of lies lol but I didnt have the heart to take anymore money away from them.
Im ending my contract 12 months early with a free blackberry curve 8900 and moving on to a £10 sim only deal 30 day contact - saving me £10 a month and giving me a free phone and allowing me to not be tied down. So I cant complain and am very happy.

Note: he did check I actually received the text so I would wait until you receive yours before trying.

if you want to still use the blackberry service (internet/ email /etc) make sure they will still give you the service (BB Service not available on sim only buuuutt if you get the right person they'll leave it or add it whichever applies) and if they do let you keep it will they charge you for it, whereas before it may have been part of your plan sim only plans dont have it as part of the plan so even if they did let you keep it you'd probably have to pay £5pm for the service

Hello all. Quick question regarding cancellation. I am 11 months through an 18 month contract with orange - although I acquired my contract through the carphonewarehouse. I noticed this clasue in the CPW T&C's.

    8. DEFAULT UNDER AND TERMINATION OF YOUR AIRTIME CONTRACT
8.1. If (i) within 7 working days of receipt of your Equipment, you have failed to arrange connection of the Equipment to the Network, if not already connected, (ii) you move onto a tariff which offers a lower rate monthly subscription during the Minimum Period, (iii) your Network Operator ends the Airtime Contract in accordance with its terms (including not limited to where you have failed to fulfill your payment obligations during the Minimum Period), (iv) you end the Airtime Contract for any reason within 9 months (if your Minimum Period is 12 months or more) or within your Minimum Period (if your Minimum Period is less than 12 months) or (v) you have been issued with a new Mobile Phone to use in conjunction with your Airtime Contract for a new Minimum Period and you have not used the new Mobile Phone within 30 days of receipt, and the relevant tariff includes a discounted Mobile Phone/Smart Phone, you must in addition to paying any other charges under the Airtime Contract either:
8.1.1. return the Mobile Phone/Smart Phone to us by sending it special delivery to Direct Returns, CPW Logistics Centre, Bilston Road, Wednesbury, W Midlands, WS10 7JN; or
8.1.2. keep the Mobile Phone/Smart Phone, in which case you agree to pay us the amount of the discount being the handset only purchase price of the Mobile Phone/Smart Phone less the amount paid by you at the time of purchase for the Mobile Phone/Smart Phone.

Noting the above, i have a few questions.

    1) Is my minimum period the length of my contract ie 18 months?
    2) Will I be liable to pay for my handset? which i will have to do, as i no longer own it.
  • I have now called 4 times and been told by each of them that i can not cancel.
I then asked when I would be receiving the txt informing me of the changes,. I was then told i would not be recieiving it as my price plan already incoperates these changes .

My price plan is Dolphin 45 opened on the 22nd may. Can anyone shed any light on this?

You are affected, for the following reasons:

    1) Minimum call charge will rise from 4.9p to 14.9p
    2) The International calls charges are rising
  • justgot off the phone to a representative who confirmed that i can. however i have to have recieved the text. apparently everybody will get the text but due to it over loading the call centre, the texts are being sent out in waves.

my question is just because i havnt recieved the text why cant i cancel. is it not fair that others have been able to cancel down to pure luck that they have recieved the text

This is exactly what i'd like to know too.

I recieved this text this afternoon and used the web address stated at the end of the message and it mentions that there will be a change to internet browsing costs but also....if you now go outside your minutes (allowence) you will now be charged 14.7p min. for all calls made to mobiles, fixed lines and get this your Answer Phone too!!!!!! Shocking.

I think this is day light robbery and would love to know my rights as to whether i have grounds to cancel my contract.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

switch to 02 its free answer phone and much better deals. Reception isnt too good around my area though

hey, I don't want to start a new thread abotu this since this is here, any help is appreciated.

I have a Nokia 5800 with Orange and the monthly deal I have isn't exactly the best, but this is because the deal I got was the "Comes With Music" thing and is apparently a contract with Nokia and not Orange. Would I still be able to get out of my contract. Also, because it's done with Nokia and not Orange would I have to send the phone back?

The phone's tied to Orange, but I'd have no problem with getting a new contract and using the same phone, or even getting the phone unlocked if it came to that. I was just wondering if I'd

    a) be able to cancel my contract
    and
    b) be able to keep the phone

I'd probably just sign back up with Orange the next day but use the new sim in my phone. It's just because it's the special deal that I'm not sure if I can cancel it.

When I cancelled mine yesterday he asked if I had received the text. I said yes even though I have not. He did not check. I would just say you have received it. If they are sending to everyone anyway what's the problem? They are just trying to stagger the work load.

    Tell a fib!
