Orange Price changes ?

  • I've been following this in BitterWallet Forums and this looks great for all moneysavers.

I'm out of contract tomorrow and was seeking clarity on upgrades and acceptance of the new tariffs. I understand that anyone taking a new contract will be accepting the new t's and c's and if I were to upgrade my phone by the orange website right now I would be effectively signing up to a new contract, and so be on the new t's and c's.
What if i push for a free handset upgrade as I am out of contract tomorrow and try and barter for a really good handset (been with orange 10 years). Does the process of upgrading in this way invoke a change to the new t's and c's? If it didn't I could grab a great phone and then just cancel whenever...? (sorry if this has raised already..);)

Aye its odd how some people managed to get through to sensible customer service folk who did the job, and others ended up speaking to morons!
I know for a fact that im eligible, despite not receiving the text message. I shall be sending a letter to orange tomorrow, as well as ringing up ofcom and informing them about the underhand tactic orange used on the phone to try and stop me from cancelling!

Does anyone have a link to the May tarriffs for orange? They're claiming my tariff is already on the increased pricing structure (not that they told me this when I upgraded) but most people have been told it is June onwards that the new terms came into effect

Hi I received the text and am thinking of leaving. What is the process re cancelling the contract. I want to get a PAC number but if I get a PAC number but decide to stay with Orange (and not upgrade), will they allow me to stay if I dont use the PAc number?

Call 150 and select the option that you're thinking of leaving. Say you want your PAC code due to term changes.

If you don't use it, it won't be canceled.

Right, so we called last night.

Firstly this bloke asked when we got the message and I said I am not sure. Sometimes this week. So he said "sorry cannot do anything for you as I cannot see here that you got it". So my OH put the phone down (he is their contact) and I showed him the text. Told him to write down EXACT time of it as well.

    Next guy was O.K.
My OH told them, that if they let us upgrade now and change the bundle (so we never get out of free minutes) we are willing to stay. We've been customer for 17 years!!!! And they said no. So he said - well, the bottom line is I will just cancel now and go back to Orange anyway, just get a new phone and better deal or maybe go elsewhere... So they said "sure, you can do that." That guy admitted that this is the most frustrating week of his career for Orange because they are not allowed to do anything for the customers.

He also said, that the problem is that once a person is out of their free minutes they have to pay other newtwork 14.7p for the first minute and charge customer only 5p so they are loosing 10p each time.

Isn't it complete rubbish? So how come they pay that only "once you are out of free minutes" and not when you are withing them?

So we said - right, we want to cancel. Apparently it will be canceled in September.

    BackStory:
Foolishly took out 18 month contract for naughty step-son in December, he abused it and run up HUGE bills so fone has been blocked since February. He also broke the phone. So useless & blocked fone costing me £20 a month until june 2011!

THANKS to MSE members I've just cancelled the contract!

    Really easy:
    150, 1, 4 , 3.
'I'd like to cancel the contract because of the changes to charges'
    'Did you get a text'
'No way of knowing as the phone is broken but I know they are changing'
    'OK'
Lovely man did try to sell me a PAYG, or some sort of fixed limit.... I said no thanks and the contract is ended as of 3.8.09, which is my next bill date.
'Do I need to put anything in writing?'
'No, it's all done for you now'

:T:beer::j:beer::T Kerrrrrrrching 20 quid a month better off!

ONE VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER who, btw, has 2 other contracts with Orange that I'm keeping as the changes won't matter due to the way the phones are used.
Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree! :D

Just spoke to Orange, and a girl said that because I havent gone over my minutes then I'm not eligible to cancel, and I would need the number from which the text was sent. I said I dont have this to hand, she said without that number and as I havent gone over my minutes then I cant cancel.

    Is this right?
