Just spoke to Orange, and a girl said that because I havent gone over my minutes then I'm not eligible to cancel, and I would need the number from which the text was sent. I said I dont have this to hand, she said without that number and as I havent gone over my minutes then I cant cancel.
Is this right?

Seems like people are still being fobbed off, make sure you have a copy of the T&C's to hand when you call up and quote them. It's illegal for them to not adhere to the contract. Don't let them fob you off! It doesn't matter if you've had the text or not!
Incidentally (I asked this question earlier but it obviously got swamped under everything else) does anyone know if the same changes apply to business contracts? I rang Orange business support and they had no idea what I was talking about. I can't find any info anywhere that relates to business contracts. I'm on Solo 45.0 -
no its not right
tell them just because you havent gone over your minutes yet doesnt matter as they are not incresing charges for calls made in the past, only after september so you may go over your minutes in the future and you agreed to pay 5p per minute not 15p
as for the text you shouldnt need it but they wont let me cancel without it eitherThere is a Money Saving Expert quidclan, next time your on quidco have a look for it0 -
Does anyone have a link to the May tarriffs for orange? They're claiming my tariff is already on the increased pricing structure (not that they told me this when I upgraded) but most people have been told it is June onwards that the new terms came into effect
Why don't you make a 2 second call to an 08702 number and then check on the online billing that is has cost 4.2p+vat.
I did this yesterday from my phone to check and if I don't recieve a text will be making another short call to 08702 after the 16th September to see if the price has increased. If it has then thats the proof to cancel and contract and also complain about not being told about the changes of costs.0 -

fantastic link cheers mate.
Phoned again, quoted above, all cancelled. I requested the PAK (?) number and she stated that I have to use the pak number by 21/08/09 otherwise it wont cancel. She isnt putting in a disconnection request but just sending the pak number, this right?
Cheers.0 -
I have 2 contracts with them, and it took me 3 calls to cancel both of them,
1st Call - guy seems very helpfully, was done within 2 minutes, pac code on the way..
2nd Call ( to cancel other account) wasnt so help, very rude, didnt really care...
3rd Call - got through to some lovely lady, very helpful, got that account canceled even tho it didnt receieve any text msg....simple process...

They blatantly lied to me.
I said I'd received the message but had subsequently deleted it, she said hold whilst she confirmed I'd received the message. Came back a minute late to confirm I'd received it on 22/7/09. Checked back on my phone and definitely not received.0 -

They tried to tell us that as well, and my OH said "why are you trying to lie to me? Completely besides the point how much minutes I use and don't use, I entered to a contract to pay 5p a minute and you changed it. As per YOUR OWN T&C I have every right to cancel".0
