9 months into a 12 month contract, phoned up in a cheerful voice and said I would like to cancel as you are changing your pricing and that I have a right to cancel. Was placed on hold and voilla PAC code on the way....0

if we dont/haven't received a text... is'nt this going against their rules of informing us of contract changes?? if they say "we haven't sent you a text" can we say... "so.. you're changing my contract without telling me?...thats against the rules"!!;)
anyone know what i mean/ agree?0 -
Just received the text! Did manage to cancel over the phone last Friday (24th) and my PAC code should be here by this Friday. I'm just glad I've got the text!0

Just phoned up myself and was told that I couldn't cancel until I've receieved the text. Enquired why and the CS clamied that they now have a "system" in place which ensures that people who have received a text will not incur any further charges on a cancelled account whereas this could not be guaranteed for people who have not received the text.
Absolute rubbish.0 -
I saw all this on sunday, and i rang up and tried to cancel, saying i'd seen the text on a friends phone. The bloke i spoke to said it couldn't be cancelled yet cos it hadn't come into effect, but the t & c say if you cancel because of price changes you have 1 month to do so from when thy let you know-hich eithr way wouldn't work!! He then went on to say that as i don't usually go out of my contract it wouldn't effect me and if i did then they would add extra minutes to my contract so as i don't pay more-think he's giving me a load of rubbish if you ask me and i ended up not cancelling because apparently tthey weren't meant to be doing it anyway!! think they've been told to put pressure on people to stay cos he was adament, cos i kept saying 'so are you telling me that even though your t & c state i can cancel,m that actually i can't?' and he was like 'no-you can, but really would not be benfitting yourself cos we're still the cheapest' - well i've received the text message myself on my phone so i'm gonna ring up and give it another shot!!
Wish Me Luck!!0 -
To the person who asked can you get money off instead?
Yes, they agreed to give me £5 per month off my bill for the remaining 17 months of my contract in exchange for me accepting the new t&c's instead of leaving.
Suits me, since I'm now paying £20 a month (400 mins, 100 text, unlimited data), and I couldn't find a better tariff anywhere else which gave a semi-decent phone.0 -
It seems from evidence on other forums that Orange CS have a new weapon against the cancellers - "you can cancel but not until the contract changes come into force in September".
Is there a counter to this because on the face of it, it sounds sensible - after all, you're not being charged more yet - they could change their minds even - etc. etc.

Absolute rubbish.
Hi All,
Do you HAVE to have the text sent to you before you can request cancellation?
I was just told this is the reason I cannot cancel now and that I have to wait till 11th August 2009.
I am anxious to know the truth...0 -

Surely that is absolute rubbish. It says in the Orange T&C's that once you are notified of the changes, you have 1 month to cancel or else you are assumed to have accepted the changes. Considering texts are being sent now, you would not be able to change in September as the month has elapsed.0 -
just rung back, got a guy who was a bit more heplful, he said you haven't had the txt yet, but you will recieve it in the next 10 days or so, till then they cannot do anything,
which is different from the numpty who said it was cancelled this morning,
they should really all read off the same page, idiots!!! ps im on dolphin35 plan0
