Just got off the phone to Orange. I signed up to Dolphin 35 (18 month) around December last year. I don't think I've received a text, but tbh I would have likely deleted it without thinking if I had. The woman on the phone told me that it definitely will not be affecting my contract and that I will not be seeing an increase in my minimum call charge! Does this seem right to anyone?
OK I now definitely feel like I'm being given the run around. I phoned up again to check exactly what I'd be charged for phoning 0870 numbers and they told me that the cost has gone DOWN from 30p to 15p, whilst answer phone calls have and will remain static. Am I just getting constantly lied to?

rang up again. apprently because im only 8 months into my contract i can't cancel because i have not recieved the text and there is no way they can check if i have or haven't and they are still banging on about this stupid spcial code. Ohhh get this 'we only sent them out to priveledged customers, not that i'm say you are not priveledged'.

That text nonsense is exactly that. They are changing your contract, a text does not change that. Having said that, at least they've admitted to you that they're changing pricing!

Just got off the phone AGAIN and have now been told that they do not know who it will be affecting, only that it's definitely effecting those who've received text messages. The database, which is supposed to tell them, was supposed to be live this morning (how convenient!), but isn't working. She will call me back within the week as soon as the database is up and didn't apologise for how I seem to be being mucked around. Ridiculous.
  • Hi

I tried all weekend to cancel my contract and eventually managed on Monday and requested a pay as you go sim until I could decide what I wanted to do. The sim came today and when I called the number to transfer my existing number the woman said that my contract wasn't up until 2011 and if i was going to buy it out. To which i said i'd phoned and cancelled earlier in the week. So she went and spoke to someone and managed very politely and quickly to cancel and transfer my number! Just hope a massive bill still doesn't arrive!

i was in a similar situation. what will happen if u dont call them is that ur 30 days notice will start once u have used the pac code. what u need to do is give them a call and tell them to change it. i did this yesterday and they are ok about it.

But he never said anything about a PAC code. I'm not really bothered about it though. If I wait the 30 days it will still be cancelled right? I have about 25 days left.

i would call and check to be honest. if ur account hasnt changed then u it will not terminate when u think it would.

as soon as i cancelled mine it changed to the new end date

I think some people are calling not actually knowing what is changing, which obviously isn't helping them cancel.

The minimum charge for calling outside your allowance, including calls to 08 and voicemail is changing from 4.9p to 14.7p minimum charge. This doesn't mean the charges per minute is changing, just the minimum charge they will charge. So if you're on 1 second, it will cost 14.7p.
