KRAAAZ not sure mate, but i just went for the disconnect thought it was safer, less reliance on getting a new contract sorted. was done in a few mins and takes effect from tonight

id rather keep the number tho. i guess u r right about it being safer just to opt for the straight disconnect.

the 30 days notice is a bit annoying. wanna get the iphone asap :))

    something i have just noticed...

a bit cheeky but some ppl might find it useful. when u request to terminate they should update ur contract expiry date on the orange website. this means that u can access the upgrade section and select a new phone keeping the old tarrif.

i really wonder if this would work. unfortunatelly im paying only 15 a month so i cant get any decent phones

Unfortuantely it won't be possible, as they're not changing the terms in that contract

    I'm confused about this?

I recently took an upgrade on the 23rd of June 2009 yet I was able to cancel earlier today. Is this because it wasn't a new contract in June or have I been lucky?

To the people who have said their contract will be terminated in 30 days, what does it say on the upgrade section of your account? Mine still says it's 11 months away so it means my account hasn't been updated. I successfully managed to cancel on Saturday so surely my account wuld have already been updated? I'm worried now that Orange won't go through with cancelling my contract in a months time.

    I think you were lucky

They've noted on the system that they've refused to let me cancel, so it doesn't matter who I speak to now, that message will stay on my file.

Surely if the Orange terms on the website say 5p minimum charge for 0870 and 12p/min for calls outside your bundle, and this is what you signed up for......if they are changing these terms to minimum 15p for 0870 and 14.7p/min noraml calls, this constitutes a major change in terms...hence reason to terminate your contract.
I only signed up last week (22nd July) but can't see why i am not affected by this and would love to go back to 02! (very cheeky i know!)
Can anyone confirm if i have a 'leg to stand on' for definite please??

    Thanks in advance :)

Well apparently the minimum charge isn't changing in the newer tariffs (June 09 and later).

I've spoke to about 8 different advisors yesterday and after speaking with the 4th, they noted on the system not to offer me a cancellation. Then each subsequent time I called up they just kept reitterating the fact that I won't be affected and told me basically to go away.

    Edit

btw. In your case, even if the t&c changed, they would just cancel your contract as it's within 14 days and you would have to return the phone
