Orange have made another big mess.....

They have sent out Text messages to EVERYONE (not just those who were allowed to cancel), saying how sorry that they were to be losing <subscriber> and stating that the price changes were being withdrawn and to call to get some great deals.

The phones are lighting up at Orange as a result.

Don't know where the apologetic text followup is though.

Me too... I cannot call as it is my OH's contract... Are you going to ring them?

No. Quite happy with the deal we have. We had 3 numbers, one of which didn't get used at all. Negotiated a reduction on one number and had the number that wasn't being used cancelled in return for us keeping 2 numbers with them.

How do you know they sent it to everyone? My friend didn't get one...

I advised my daughter to ring on Monday as she has had problems with her handset. She was given a disconnection date of 24th August, her billing date. I asked her to ring and check today just in case the disconnection was affected by the scrapping of the proposed increase. Initially, a very rude (probably worn out by the sheer volume of calls) customer service assistant told my daughter that her cancellation wasn't being allowed to go through. When she informed them that she had already agreed a new contract with another provider (she didn't want to keep her number, so no PAC was requested), they confirmed her disconnection date. Seconds later, she received the 'sorry you're leaving us' text.

If you've done everything right, stick to your guns.

Well, that statement isn't accurate, my wife tried to cancel last weekend and was refused.

She got this text today and called up Orange CS who said that they had just had a memo round saying to expect to be busy because the text had been sent to everyone by mistake.

I imagine that the texts are queued in the same way that the original ones about the price increase were and not everyone has received it yet.

My wife did not manage to cancel but did receive the text.

I haven't got this text. I called Orange today and was advised because of the nature of me leaving Orange "the contract changes" they 't were not able to give me anything to stay....

    All very strange.

Well it seems orange are F**king up again then because i phoned up to make sure my cancellation is going through at the end of the month.(which it is) and they told me "only the people who have rang up to cancel" are receiving these texts.

Half the problem with this is that it is so random.

Someone my husband works with got £20 cash back, cheaper called and a brand new phone for wanting to cancel and to be honest they had little growns.
Some people got nothing at all, and others got verbal abuse and lies.

Now they are not changing their prices (yet) but the problems still go one.

I seem to remember someone somewhere saying a phone company (was if phones 4 u) might buy people out ? I like the orange contract and the signal is good for me but the phone is shocking and I could do with another one but can't afford to buy one outright.

  • I have 2 questions if anyone can answer. Because I don't trust orange.

I've been put of contract because I cancelled due to the changes in the T&Cs. I've received my PAC code and ready to rock and roll. But before I do.

1; Can I upgrade my phones with Orange ?
I've been told by orange that I can't because I've been put out of contract, and some rude woman told me this morning it was also because based on the nature I left ...

2; Can I stay on the same price plan and just have two new phones
