Well, I was one of the last past the line, cancelled Tuesday morning, the girl gave me a pac code instantly via text and today I had a letter confirming the code with the usual " We're sorry you're leaving orange....."

That makes me so 'kin angry!

all calls to companies like this will be recorded from now one. One way or another..
  • Hi
I phoned, got verbal agreement that they were gonna cancel my contract and send PAC code, on the day before they decided to not change terms. The next day my wife took a phone call saying they were not going to change the terms and were going to revoke my cancellation.

Today i have received my PAC code and the 'sorry your leaving' letter.........

Ideas? Im probably going to contact ofcom for advice then call orange tomorrow

    Cheers

As they've issued you with a PAC code, you now have a mutual agreement in place for the contract to be cancelled. You can therefore transfer from Orange as you wish and if you have any problems just quote your legal rights

I agreed a disconnection with Orange on Monday evening, around 6pm. I double-checked it on Tuesday with a call to the Exec Team, who confirmed everything was going ahead and my PAC code was on the way.

Today I had a call from customer service about the email I sent rejecting the new terms. I told them it was all sorted as I had agreed to disconnect Monday evening. He offered to check everything was still going through so I agreed. I was then transferred to a woman who told me there was no record of me ever agreeing to disconnect and the system was not showing any cancellation (pending or otherwise) of my contract and no PAC code was on the way to me.

I'm going to try the Exec Team again tomorrow as I think the woman I spoke to will remember me (we had a bit of banter and shared the same name) so I'm really hoping for a resolution through her otherwise it's going to be Ofcom/Cisas.

I'm quite flabbergasted by this tbh.

I think some of the comments directed towards evilsheep have been unacceptable, in my opinion. We are a community here and I think it is only fair and reasonable that members be able to offer their opinions without personal attacks.

For the record I made a number of posts at the very start of this explaining the T&Cs that people should use. I also advised that people should have a note placed on their account saying they have requested cancellation, take the name and ext number of the CSR and then call back 10 minutes later to check that the note was there. In these circumstances they would still be able to cancel on the basis of notice received.

I think the actions of Orange have been disgraceful and Ofcom and the Office of Fair Trading should mount an inquiry. However, like evilsheep, I've been an O customer for many years and remain very happy. I received the text and was entitled to cancel (I use 08 numbers and go over my minutes) but I opted not to cancel.

For those who are hard of hearing I'm not defending Orange but just expressing an opinion that many of the CSRs I have spoken to have been decent honest people. I've came across the odd bad apple but I suppose you get that anywhere.

Anyone still bleating about the changes, well they are not happening anymore, so pretend it didn't happen, delete the text, and move on.

    NOTHING TO SEE HERE!! ;)
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

Well, as we all know, Orange have rescinded their proposed changes to call and data charges, but where does that leave new customers who actually signed up with these proposed changes in place when data charges were SUPPOSED to be dropped/capped at a lower rate when out of bundle (60p instead of a 1 pound).

This is actually confusing now, are all new contracts going to adhere to the proposed changes, and all the 'old contracts' remain as they were?

If not, the data charges will be adding upto around 1 pound/day more when compared to the old conditions? This IS a significant change, approximately 66% higher?

Does this mean we can cancel our new contracts?
Try to imagine nothing ever existed...

Still everything to see actually - a lot of people where denied there right to cancel a contract and following that are still in a contract which is causing a loss of finance to that individual.

And now I am hearing they are going back on verbal agreements - it is unacceptable.

If I had my rights and they were carried out - I would not be in a Contract with Orange which is resulting me paying £x a month that I should have had a right to cancel.

Someone people took out other contracts based on that Orange agreed to cancel. So now they are left with two contracts and are now suffering financially for it.

In my opinion too. Seems as if some members have been venting their frustration with Orange at evilsheep.

I have always received good customer service from Orange too. :j

I managed to get Orange to agree to cancel my contract and I have a PAC, however now that they have decided to ditch the proposed changes I am unsure whether I will exercise my right... The changes were never really going to affect me that much in any case.

And unlike others, I don't want an iPhone or to make a quick buck on Ebay, either...
