. He also said that my credit rating would be affected.
Does anyone know if cancelling a contract will affect your credit rating??
Its not like we have defaulted on our mobile accounts..... Orange have broken THEIR OWN t&c's and we are within our rights not to agree to the changes!!!!!
Any advice appreciated0 -
I asked them this directly - they said it would not.
It would only effect in house - where on your record it would show 'cancelled early' - not available outside Orange.0 -

Finally!
After 2 previous unsucessful calls I managed to cancel tonight. Didn't need to argue my case at all.
Good luck to the rest of you who are trying to cancel.
A little pointer: When you call, tell the Advisor you are recording the conversation. You must ask if this is ok with them. They have to agree. Then if you keep calm and act reasonably, you'll be amazed what it can achieve!
Obviously it's even better if you can actually tape the conversation too - just in case!0 -
well was on hold for 20mins put through to 2 departments to be told to phone back tomorrow as retentions was closed0

wow third time lucky!
spoke to lovely but very tired sounding Meg, (a man, said like medge)
Me: 'Hi I'd like to cancel my contract because of the change to T's and C's. I need my PAC code please'
Meg: 'No problem can I just take the first and second digits of your password'
Me: gave him the digits
Meg: Ok lets just have a look, OK that's it all done for you. you should get your PAC code in 2 days
Me: so there are no cancellation/disconnection charges?
Meg: no, because it is down to the price increase there won't be.
Excellent! had two previous conversations and in the last one I was told if I hadn't received the text by tomorrow to phone back. didn't want to wait so thought I'd try my luck again now.
Over last 3 bills called 22 08 numbers and went over minutes massively in May and June (over by 544 mins in June!) but not in July. Had not received text. Wasn't due to be out of contract for at least another 16 months yet!
Best of luck everyone, I'm gonna wait for the PAC code then move to O2 sim only.0 -
Hmm. Guess I just got one of the stubborn ones ...
After a reasonably lengthy period waiting to be connected, listening to rrrubbish chart music, I was told in no uncertain terms that I wasn't eligible to cancel my contract as I haven't exceeded my monthly allowance in the last 3 months. I responded by saying that I've recently cancelled my landline precisely because I haven't been using my 'free' mobile minutes, and would therefore likely be going over my minutes in future, and certainly using 08 numbers. This particular advisor then read clause 4.3 back to me (before I'd had a chance to use it!) and said that this clause showed that Orange have given me notice prior to me going over my monthly allowance (?!). However, he then offered me a 'goodwill' £10 credit on my next bill and said that for an extra £4 a month he could add a further 200 minutes to my contract (I currently pay £20 - or is it £25 ... - for 600 x-net minutes, unlimited texts & landline). I then pointed out that my signal with Orange was pretty poor in my house, and pretty much everywhere I go, and he said something about using my wi-fi in the house to increase the signal? I said that I still wanted to cancel, as I believe it was my right to, and he said that although he personally had cancelled hundreds of eligible contracts that day, I wasn't eligible, so would not be cancelled (again siting clause 4.3 as the reason I wasn't eligible). As he'd mentioned that this was on advice of the 'legal team', I asked when this advice was passed down, and he said 'within the last 48 hours'. He also started to ask which forum I'd been reading!
Anyway, I was getting nowhere, so ended the call by politely declining any goodwill offer, mentioning that I would be contacting OfCom and asking for a note to be placed on my account stating that I did not agree to the contract changes.
I guess I'll have to try again tomorrow ...
EDIT: Can I just add that the nice young chap I spoke to (didn't catch his name ...) was extremely pleasant, perfectly polite and was only doing his job. No complaints to Orange CS from me in that sense, but I am more than aware that there are some not-so-nice CSAs out there.0 -
hopefuly this isn't a repost, thought since i've asked something i'll give something back
edit - seems i can't post links, bitterwallet has all of the information needed0 -
So, I haven't gone over my inclusive minutes and have only rang the odd 08 number, but I have downloaded quite a bit of data..........does this make me eligible or are the data changes exempt0
