ok so I cancelled last night and now wishing I hadn't....do you think I can ring them and tell them I've changed my mind? And would it be cheeky of me to ask if they can make it worthwhile for me to stay with them?
  • Well I've been watching this (and the bitterwallet) thread with great interest. I made one phone call to Orange CS on Sat 8th (having received text about T&C change) and was told that I couldn't cancel without penalty as I hadn't gone over my minutes. I was pleasant and said that Orange were sending out very conflicting messages as some people were allowed to cancel and some weren't, but the call ended with me NOT being allowed to cancel. I was left in the mind set that at least I'd tried. However, after more forum reading, I started to feel very hard done by. It seemed there was no consistency in what Orange CS were telling people and some of them were down right rude. Having prepared a letter of complaint to email (and post) to Orange I decided to first go down the route of contacting Ofcom to get the reference number to phone Orange CEO. I have just done this, and to my surprise can't believe how simple and pleasant it was. I phoned CEO and spoke to Amanda who was extremely friendly taking some details from me and putting me on hold. She then transfered me to Suzanne at disconnections who then cancelled both numbers on my account with ease. My PAC codes should be with me in 3-5 days. Simple.

I've been an Orange customer for many years and was happy enough but what with this fiasco and the letter I received about the huge hike in my Orange Broadband, it's time to say goodbye - at least for the time being. I will miss Orange Wednesdays but may buy an Orange Sim only just for that. Oh it was so much easier in the days when we never had mobiles & broadband :rotfl:Technology....... how did we survive without it!!

you could probably tell them you changed your mind, I'm sure they'd be happy to take people back with the current situation. but if you have been cut off rather than waiting fo a pac code they may not be able to do this.

as for trying to get a better deal out of them, very unlikely id expect!!maybe if you'd said it at the time of cancellation.

I get my broadband free with my contract...so cancelling it means I'm going to have to pay for that, and also realised i do most of my ringing from my mobile so i only really pay line rental for my landline, and so i'd end up probably not saving any money...

How come they've put the price of your broadband up??
  • I called, the guy gave me a bit of grief but gave up and said the PAC code would be sent and would be received in 5days - I'd have to pay for 30days of my contract from today (notice period) - has anyone else got this?

I then called back half hour later to pay my bill - I asked this lady to confirm whether my previous request had been noted, she couldn't see anything about PAC codes so put me through to another department. This lady checked the status of my account and said that the PAC code HAD been sent, questioned why I felt the need to call back (I explained) and was then very hesitant to tell me her name and extention...

Is this fishy or are they just getting bored of everyone leaving Orange??

That's why I am going to see out my contract too as I get the free broadband. I have researched what to do in November when mine ends and, although I am happy with Orange as a company and my current deal, I moved house and my reception is rubbish. I miss calls and have to go upstairs to make calls to get reception.

I will probably go with O2 on a 30 day sim as they give cheap broadband to their customers at a higher speed than Orange free broadband. Check it out.

  • Hi All,

In the past i have made a couple of calls to an 08457 number - my bank.

Is this one of the numbers which is being increased as part of this change of terms?

I have so far been told that i have not gone over my limits over the past 3 months and as a result can not cancel.

If i go back to them with this information - if it is confirmed that these numbers are affected hopefully this will help with my case.

If someone can confirm this, that would be supa :-)
