Bus shelter plonked outside my lounge window!

    Hi Border Collie,

Yes it is on the other side of the road, so it's about 5 metres away (just the road's width) as my home is directly on the pavement, with the people sitting facing directly into my window while they wait for a bus.

I don't think you will have much luck. If it was on the pavement outside your house then perhaps they would be sympathetic.
    Good luck anyway.
The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

Get some vertical blinds, angle them so no-one can look in.
    Problem solved.

    Next.

Whilst I think it's a NIMBY moan, can you imagine looking out the window and seeing a bench of sad, miserable people waiting for the bus which never comes :(

In which case you once had people walking down the street, able to look through your window.

Now you have people sat on a bench, able to look through your window.

What exactly is the problem? Do you walk around the house topless? If so, pics please.

    Might do! :D

But I certainly don't want to have to be all fully made up & prim & proper all the time just in case someone I know is at the bus shelter.

Guys walk around in their boxers at home all the time when it's hot, & yes sometimes I want to slob out in front of the tv....heck, I might even want to pick my nose or something. Now I can't.

    Not much privacy is there!

They must've wondered what I was doing taking pictures!

    .
  • Of course you can. You can buy some blinds, and then people can't see you.

More to the point, you won't be able to see them. How do you think they feel, having to sit there with some strange person watching them from a window?

Its a disgrace. If I was using that stop, I'd complain and get your house moved.

You live on a main road and your door opens on to the pavement, If you want to slob around (as you put it) then get net curtains like the rest of us who dont want people looking in their windows. Before the bus stop did anybody look in your window when they walked past?

Contact the council and tell them they`re violating your human rights and you want it removed.
This seems to do the trick for everything else in this country.

I thought your situation was much worse than the photo shows.
So you live on a main road, with people walking by alll the time, and you do not have any blinds up?
It is nowehere near as bad as you made out.
Looks like a stong NIMBY case to me.

I have a house straight onto the pavement too, no bus stop thankfully.

I find with the appropriate combination of blinds and net curtains (they really are like a fishing net style rather than the usual), then I can have all the light I need and a reasonable view outside, but nobody can see in unless they put their face right next to the window!
