I seem to be getting the same missed call on my mobile from an 0800 number  Needless to say, I haven't actually answered it (never got there in time :) ), nor have they left a message. If it's that important, then they'll leave a message is my policy.

Then again, the other week I had a missed call from another number, but again I worked on the basis that if it was important then they'd leave a message. They didn't leave a message, but the following day I found out that it had been the headteacher of my school  and we had Ofsted coming in the following day

Just coming back re my earlier post.

The call was charged for 68p for a mere 4 seconds!! Although I am glad that the damage was for less than a pound, by the foregoing, the rate works out at £10.20 per minute.

I have just had another one of these calls from 07028759381 and I watched my mobile phone ring - it was in front of me on my desk. It only rang once, then registered as a missed call.

I SURE AM NOT CALLING THIS NUMBER BACK!

I've had a look through the OFCOM website and it looks like several companies have been collared for this in the past.

It appears that OFCOM do not act upon individual complaints, but where they get multiple complaints about the same company they will investigate.

Unfortunately, their complaints system does not have a specific catagory for this practice (they call it CLI Dumpring), but I have submitted a complaint via their Consumer Monitoring Survey found under 'Privacy issues - nuisance and sales calls and faxes' here... http://www.ofcom.org.uk/complain/mobile/unwanted/scams/?itemid=285922

If enough people report this then hopefully we can get these clowns closed down.

Best thing is if you dont reconize the number don't call back.
Saying that a family member keeps getting recognised numbers when people haven't called him! And he's convinced it's scam by his mobile company..............erm Orange!

He was doing some work when his mobile rang one day, he checked the screen and it was his colleagues mobile ringing him. Thing is, his colleague was just round the corner doing some work and wasn't even using his mobile! Needless to say they couldn't believe it!!
