WOW, FANTASTIC Hope you do get the money and your plans work out.

Indeed - the money isn't in the bank yet, the admin part is still trundling along so there'll be loose ends to tie up, things to sign etc etc

Woofs the sense of relief that this has all come to a conclusion must be overwhelming, and it truely is an amazing coincidence that your new property was built with a family connection (with the timing being what it is surely it has to be the property you were meant to have all along).
Fingers, toes etc crossed for a nice smooth path to moving in to your new home.

Well the new house is about 5-6 minutes walk from the other place so there is a chance paths could cross, although I suspect that their house will be pinging on to the market before too long! (I'll post a RM link if it does). Having said that, by the time they've paid us, paid their legals and paid the EA I very much doubt that they'll be in anything other than the position they're already in, even if they did sell for considerably more than the price they agreed with us.
Actually I am hoping that this does not hurt them enough to backtrack and try to sell to you after all. And I have a concern as to how they will fund the 30K to you. Is it from the sale of their house?
There were a couple of things I did want to say...
The wisdom I've gained from this mess has been to examine and re-examine every decision you make to be sure it's from the head, not the heart. Your solicitor will simply do what you ask them to do after they've supplied you with advice, so really it's up to you to make sure the decision is right for you and your circumstances.
    Good stuff.
I won't relax until we've completed on this new property (although I will admit to an hour spent in Kitchenhaus yesterday cooing over composite worktops :o) but when we do I'd be more than happy to post a 'before' and 'after' on the refurb on a new thread.
Look forward to it. It sounds exciting!

  • Forgot to ask: If you had never seen the other place, how would you have felt about the place you are now buying?

  • Ah hurrah! I'm so so pleased for you, congratulations, and - notwithstanding your comments about having a really tough time of it in "real life" - you've been a star, and a real inspiration for the way in which you've handled an awful situation with grace, dignity and humour. Can't wait to hear about the successful completion on your new place! :T
