Vendors pull out AFTER exchange of contract

Decent result for you WW, but didn't you originally offer to settle for £25k? I bet you'd rather have got that (or maybe a bit less) early on than struggle on for an extra £5k, and the defendants were foolish to turn you down.
What's the deal on costs?
I act as an expert witness, so I see a lot of litigation without actually being in the firing line. My strong advice, having seen dozens of cases, is to settle as early on as you can, even if you think you might do better in court. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
I am really pleased that things are working out for you and this is almost resolved.
Well done to you and Mr WW for keeping things together; however difficult they were. And I hope that you are very happy in your new home - it definitely sounds as if that one is meant to be!0 -
I've followed this thread with interest from very early on & am delighted with your news! I believe in fate & it's spooky how fate has worked out for you in this case.
It would've been so wrong for the end result not to have worked 100% in your favour;not nice to admit, but I really hope the vendors do not make any financial gain selling the property on to someone else.
Well Done again!

Congratulations and hope you are happy in your new home. We had a really bad experience with our last house move. It took nearly a year of not knowing what was going on, or when it was going to happen, and it put our whole life on hold. But years later we are glad we stuck it out but it really does knock the stuffing out of you so well done for hanging in there.0

At least you did not have to go to court and get involved in the tricks that lawyers play

Ahh well their solicitor told ours that the parents had waded in to try and sort it out. We had no contact with them or the vendors throughout the entire thing.
The second batch of solicitors they had seemed far better...and far more aware of the situation they were in“Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. You'll mess it up, it's potential, leave it. Anyway, it's like your bank balance - you always have a lot less than you think.”

I'm really chuffed for you and that it's all worked out. Someone else has said this, but I hope that with paying your settlement that the original vendors don't come out of this with a profit - bullies shouldn't be rewarded.
Enjoy your new house
And have too many glasses of champers instead of wine tonight..:beer:Debts 07/12/2021

hi WW- i also am sooooo delighted that you have come to an out of court settlement - AND you dont have to live in a house that THEY lived in !!!! wheyheyyyyyy !!!!
I'm a great believer in karma (and exclamation marks) - and i am sure you will be astonishingly content in your new family home - who knows what magical little bits and bobs about your family heritage you may find in the attic, written on old wall-paper, buried in the garden, under floorboards once you start the refurb ....
very best of luck
xx
p.s. i think it was very brave indeed to "keep a stiff upper lip" on the forum - and i think it even braver to have shared your sorrow and frustration in hindsight - thank you .... well done you .....0
