Whether the vendors make a profit or not is neither here nor there, certainly not something WW should concern themselves with. The £30K plus both parties legal and other professional fees and the estate agents bill means they probably won't have much change out of £40-45K - expensive way to learn what a contract is, IMO.

Once the dosh is banked you'll be able to have a right laugh at their expense (literally as well as figuratively) with your family in the village - what a pair of plonkers! It will make up for some of the stress and anguish they've put you through, as will the fact that you'll end up with a better house which will be largely at their cost. :D

If all goes well with your new purchase, you really will have to thank them for their generosity when you move to the village. ;)

The Lord moves ... and all that. :A

Glad its all sorted and over - but I do have a burning question; Did you ever find out _why_ they refused to complete? Was there some super secret skullduggery going one, or were they just unhinged?

Another one who thought it was just being bumped.

Congratulations on the good news - so much off your mind now.
Enjoy all the pleasurable bits like the refurb and good luck in your new house.

(Blows a raspberry at the totally humiliated and unbelievably stupid original vendors).

  • Congrats - what great news for you and I hope it all works out.

Out of interest, how does the £30k+ settlement compare to the deposit that you had put down? I'm trying to understand whether, if either buyer or seller pulls out after exchange, they would face the same financial loss.
