Seen their telephone/broadband deal (inclusive telephone calls and free broadband) and it seems decent value (40GB limit per month / up to 8mpbs) - £20.99 a month.
Is anyone on it yet? Just wondered what the service is like etc?
Also, I rely quite heavily on the Internet. Does it take long to switch over ISP's!? I'm currently with Wanadoo.0 -
Nobody will be on their combined product yet.
18 month minimum contract period.
Uncharted territory.
The company was hammered last week on Watchdog for their mobile phone service.
At present it looks like you will have your phone service transferred to them typically 3 weeks after applying online, then you will potentially be without broadband for a further MONTH if you are an exsitng BT broadband user.
IMHO this is one to avoid until they've bedded in a bit - give it 6-12 months.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
Thanks for the reply. Yea, I just read some other threads... slow connection, no p2p support... think I'll leave it!0

Sorry if this has been mentioned elsewhere. I am currently with onetel for my broadband and I note that talk talk have acquired onetel. Has anyone enquired if you can transfer a onetel account over to talk talk? It would be very nice to upgarde from 2 to 8 MB, (which I see is available in my area), and pay £10 a month less as well as saving on line rental!0

I've asked BT to reconnect me but then have to stay with them for three months before I can switch to TT during which I won't have ANY internet access because all the other isp's seem to have 12 month minimum term contracts. Not sure what the penalties are to get out of BT earlier than 3 months. Couldn't find any information on their site.
Some broadband providers do have packages with contracts less than 12 months. Virgin.net offer 3 broadband packages, all with no minimum contract!. I think there are others, but can't recall their names at the mo!; check on adslguide for more information.

c_smith wrote:I'm currently with Telewest and I'm considering taking this offer up with Talk Talk, but it says you must have a BT landline to take advantage of it and it's not available to cable customers.
I've still got the BT landline in my property as I was with them before, so it should just be a case of reactivating it at the exchange. Can anyone confirm if this is the case?
I was wondering this as well, so i emailed TalkTalk and here's the re[ly they sent:

Dear Mr Fear,
Thank you for your email.
I can confirm you will need to ask BT to connect you and you will then be subject to a 3 month contract. Once the 3 months is over, you can sign up to TalkTalk.
If you have any further queries, please contact us on 0870 444 1820 or via email to customerservices@talktalk.co.uk.

Also reconnections to bt should be free; go to https://www.bt.com/reconnect or give them a call for more information / clarification.

hi all just to let you all know when I signed up to talktalk broadband 11 months ago they were great but after 6 months they started to stop you downloading and they said under there fair use policy tuff ,so all be warned you are signing up for 18 months that means you are stuck to them for that time and they will do what they want with your broadband as we all know you get nothing for nothing, yes I have gave them my 30 days notice to quit and will be moving ,but as I have said before if I got 1 person not to sign up to this company I would be happy .I can tell you all so for I have stopped a few, only by telling then to read these forums and make their own minds up, they have came back to me to thank me for telling them about this site and will not be signing up to talktalk0

Hi Just saw your post on the message board. Do I understand what you are saying theuy stopped your downloading, you managed to over 40 gb?0
-
hi
i dont believe they have a 40 gb cap, they just stop all p2p file sharing programs, I can tell you that now my p2p has no downloading or no uploading on it and no I am not the only 1 just look back in to this forum.I would say once they get all the people to sign up to 18 months "(remember you are stuck to them for that time)"they will do what they want, it will always be in their t+c,if you want to be stuck to this company then go ahead but you cant say you have not been warned0 -

You are kidding I hope! These rip off merchants just get better and better. :rotfl:
I migrated from Wanadoo to TalkTalk nearly 12 months ago. First TT !!!!ed it up by letting the MAC number expire, so I had to hassle Wanadoo for another one at my expense. I should have read the signs then and got away while I still could.
The guy who said they BLOCK P2P wasn't wrong - that is 100% correct, although there are ways to get around it. I have TT 1MBit and have requested my MAC number to get away from them. I love going to the in-laws with my laptop as they have BT 2MBit and it's about 100x faster than my connection! :rotfl:0
